i knew you were smart :roflmao: now i have to go google what you ment :roflmao:
My Ultimo is setup with the n dongle and I have no problems streaming HD channels through it.
You will need a good N router though and don’t set the encryption to WEP otherwise you will lose a lot of speed. I have mine setup as WPA2
I did not get a very good signal from the rear of the Ultimo and did not want to put the dongle in the front of the unit so I have the dongle attached to a USB extension lead plugged into the rear......
I will at some time run a CAT5 cable to the unit as I would suggest that this is far better than home plugs?

whats even worse how do you do this ??
remembering ell thicko here you have now wetted my appatite
CAT5 cable is probably the best way to connect to your unit, but in theory wireless N should/can run at 300mbs were as CAT5 cable to the unit will run at 10/100......

At the most basic level, buy switch, buy cable lengths, plug all devices into switch, plug switch into router - done ;)
It can be as complicated as you like but at this level its a 5 minute job!

Have you transferred a file across your network from the Ultimo using wireless N? Just wondering what consistent transfer rate you get...
A 5 gb file takes around 12 - 15 min but that's using FTP I have used windows robocopy that is a lot quicker usually but I have not timed it yet.....
Cheers m8, I have a Netgear wireless N router, wpa2 encryption, will test it when I receive my new toy :-),
whereabouts in the menu is the setup for wireless devices ?
Cheers.

When you setup wifi on the Ultimo, set the encrytptionm type to wpa or wpa2, not just wpa or wpa2 if that make senses :p Theres an option that says wpa or wpa2, use that.
Cheers m8, I'm thinking of using the n dongle with my Duo, homeplugs on the Ultimo, whereabouts on the Duo is the setup, same as Ultimo ?
I found my wireless reception wasn't great plus transfer speed was a bit low, so went with 200Mbps homeplugs. Got a little 8 port gigabit switch going in at the TV end so a few of the devices can be plugged in and upgrading the homeplugs to gigabit ones. Next house is definitely getting flooded with Cat6 and some extra coax, etc... in every room when I move in.
Yes, the USB Wifi n stick, should recognised be straight away. Plug it in and reboot.

yep thats pretty much my setup. i have a netgear 4 port router downstairs, i have 2 30 meter cat 5 cables running upstairs to my room ( 1 as a redundancy ). just plug one of the cables into the network switch and plug every thing else into the same switch.
at present i have
DM600 directly to router
xbox 260 directly to router.
and these plugged directly to the network switch.
xbox 360 x 2
Vu Uno
Vu duo
Vu ultimo
sky HD box
500GB buffalo NAS
