View Full Version : Psu
Only had my solo2 a week and psu has died, tried new fuse and different plug bit, its def the power brick.
Took it to a local electronics shop who had a 12v 3.5a power adaptor but they looked at the tip and said its a special tip, its def different as it has some sort of metal bit inside it

Did you have the psu isolated with a surge protector as that's the bare minimum I would recommend.

Yeah i have a 8 way monster adaptor which is surge protected...
I will be covered under warranty with you guys as i bought it from the wos shop but out of curiosity what is the correct power supply for the solo2, why is the tip unique as ive just realised my friend could lend me his spare dm800hd power supply

No idea, not had the pleasure of using a solo2 yet, but that's likely a question that only Vu themselves can answer.

Hmmm, it's just a standart DC-plug 2,5/5,5mm.

Could someone with a Solo2 post a picture of the tip and also state the power values as detailed on the receiver and PSU? Just in case anyone ever needs a replacement when out of warranty.

It's just a standard 2.5mm tip
Output 12v 3.5a
WOS are going to replace the power supply but I have to go through the rigamaroll of sending it back...etc
I want to replace the power supply now with a universal charger that will come in handy for other devices, always been meaning to buy one, just never seen a good one...
Something like this but obviously I need one rated at 3.5a at least....

If you use power supply other than the one supplied, you may invalidate your warranty.
A universal charger will work fine as long as you have the correct output! But like Stanman says this probably will invalidate your warranty if anything ever goes wrong with your box so use at your own risk.

Surely it can only invalidate you're warranty if you are dumb enough to admit that you've used one, as there will be no way of knowing.:)

I think his post kind of says that already, especially considering he bought the box from the sponser, who is very likely reading this lol

Yes but I thought you get the warranty from the manufacturer......

Your warranty would be with the supplier I would presume mate?
Could be wrong though :)

Not 100% myself, I'm just going off every time I buy an electrical like a cooker or a Hoover the guarantee/warranty card I fill in and post off, goes to the manufacturer not the shop I bought the item from.
