Hi if I have started this thread in the wrong place please advise where i should post to.
I have a VU Solo 2 and am thinking of changing my box, I love the vix image so want your opinions on what box I should go for.
I would want a twin tuner with a 2.5inch HDD capability?
Or would you advise not to bother?
cheers
Bart
bit lost on that question as the solo2 rocks as its still an excellent box with 2 fixed sat tuners and can have a 2.5 sata hdd inserted.
where you thinking of cable tuners then vu duo2 or the xtrend range can have mix and match swappable tuners:D

Hi, I'm not looking at Cable or combos. My box has been crashing a bit lately and freezing and someone suggested it could be the box. Hence I thought IF I am going to change what would people advise. Generally very happy with the solo but keep getting mails from wos about all these new boxes so I get a bit lost in translation with them all especially these xtrend ones

wos like to mass email people who bought stuff and every now and again something nice and tasty comes up:eek:if box is crashing i would start afresh with new image and no settings restore to see if box has a bug.
i have a solo2 here and not thinking of changing it yet.

I agree with Avalon, try to find out why the solo2 is misbehaving first, it's still one of the best boxes you can buy so unless it has serious hardware issues I see very little reason to spend money on another box if you already have one of the best out there already.

How can you tell what condition it's in and whats better about the box than a vu solo 2?

The sales invoice was in the box :)the et8000 has 3 tuner slots so you can mix and match between sat and cable tuners its now running 2 sat and 1 cable tuner and can house full fat HDD and the smaller 2,5 drives

Confused, your Solo 2 already has 2.5" HDD facility.

I've had a few little issues of late and therefore asked the question of if I was to do so what should I get?

Depends what you'd want from an upgrade and if you'll really benefit. I'd suggest as others have done, USB re-flash your Solo2 and setup fresh.
Would you really benefit from extra tuners a Duo2 could provide or hardware transcoding? Or then there's the Solo4K, but again would you benefit from any of the extra features?

No I don't think I'd benefit or use any of the extra bits. I've reflashed and set it up and will see how I get on. Thanks again all
