View Full Version : Mutant HD2400 Dead????!!!??
Evening All,
Feeling a bit devastated tonight. Story goes like this,
I put my Mutant into deep standby this morning as was beginning work on bathroom roof and velux windows. I have come to turn the unit on tonight and I am getting no power what so ever from the Mutant.
I am confused as it was working fine this morning. I have tried different sockets, had a look under the hood (attached images) and removed the hard drive to see if that was causing issue but iv got nothing.
First time iv ever experienced this with many enigma 2 boxes i own/have owned.
Can anyone offer any advice to what this may be or see something in the pics I am missing?
Thanks

...blown fuse?
where is the fuse? the plug for the mutant is a hard wired power pack?
also iv tried another power lead and with that i get something starting up but nothing on the LCD display and nothing on the tv
It sounds like your power supply has failed and the replacement one you're trying to use is not big enough? I've had a few power bricks fail on me over the years. Easily replaceable with something from ebay. What's the voltage / amp rating of the original, and the replacement you're trying to use? They should be something like 12V / 2A.

I have a light on the original power supply I am using, can it still fail? output on original is 12V.

Yes they can fail. Just because the light is on, it does not mean it is working fine. Try another 12v PSU
Only have a 13.5v at the minute, is that OK to try or too much?

It should be okay for a short test. I'd probably go for it myself, but you really need to decide yourself. If you do go for it, just as important is the current that the PSU can supply. It needs to be able to supply at least the same as the original. I'm guessing the original will be good for 2 Amp?
OK so tried both again, got nothing from original 12v, used 13.5v and can hear something from the box, not sure what, fan isn't going, tried it with and without hdd and hear the same noise??

OK got so many power lead and adaptors don't know which is what but I've just realised I was actually using a 13.5v power lead to power the box, it was just a plug and straight into box not ac adapter. Could this be my issue? Has it blown something in the box.

I have the Mutant and this is the adaptor i got with mine.
Model CW1205000
iNPUT: 100-240V 50/60Hz 1.2A MAX
OUTPUT 12V 5000mA.
I know this ain't the answer to your problem but at least you can find the correct adapter.

Don't understand what you mean. Using a 13.5v feed instead of 12v is unlikely to damage your box, but you're saying that you plugged something into your box without an ac adapter? If you've connected 240vac mains feed directly into your box you will definitely have fried something, but you would almost certainly have heard / seen / smelt it, so I'm guessing you didn't actually do that!
I'll have a look at the supply in a minute. That's what I thought I'd hear something but nothing and nothing inside box looks fried

Please only connect 12v power supply.
Tuners are most power hungry devices, so you can try with those removed.
Thanks Abu will try that.

Hope all goes well with your box m8, got one myself, and they are very very good boxes... [ apart from the remote ] so, hopefully nothing seriously wrong with it...

Tried with 12v power supply and tuners removed and still absolutely nothing. New PSU should be out for delivery tomorrow or Wednesday so will wait for that. It's not looking good. Hope it can be fixed.

Hey D
So what happened in the end with your receiver?
Still dead?
Sent back to mutant to see if repair can be done. Nothing, so they replaced the receiver with an HD51

Oh ok
And you don't have any idea what caused it to die like that?
Where did you sent it to? Where are they based?
