If you watch what's happening, is it actually recording but it's black upon viewing or is nothing actually happening at all on the box when it's due to start?
Nothing happens on the box and it doesn't show in media just autotimer menu, I've never got it to work

Can you manually record or Timeshift?
Yep to both

When the Autotimer finds something to record the event will appear in the timer list. Can you see a item generated by the Autotimer in the 'timers' list?
How are you setting your Autotimer?
try
Go to your program list and highlight a program that going to start in say, 30 to 60 minutes in the future
Press Blue to select an Autotimer
Don't change any options in the menu that may appear
Keep pressing Green to select everything
Then quit the program guide
10/15 seconds later do you then get an information screen showing the timers set-up
Have you got a screen shot of a non-working auto-timer set-up?
Hi
I scroll to the program I want to record on the program list and click blue to add the timer

You should now have two entries in your timers list menu->timers->timers that are labelled waiting. Do you have these entries?

now you have to wait :)
After the first program has started you should be able to go to your list of recorded programs and see an entry for American dad with a red roundal in front of it indicating that it is in progress of recording
Okies mate I'll set another one up for tonight and see how I get on and let you know [emoji106]

Click on it to bring up the set-up screen. Is the date/time OK
1st timer http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161212/946c3248024f48738137a544873c5c74.jpg
2nd timer http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161212/b476a6cf8fc63b1871e7a7f54aaf8c0d.jpg
Both showing correct date and time but not repeat icon

Observation
My EPG shows the program name to be American Dad! (with an exclamation mark at the end)
You setting seem to be for American Dad without the exclamation
A exact match for American Dad will not find American Dad!
Are you losing the exclamation mark when setting up the autotimer? Perhaps a skin issue with 'special' characters????? Maybe set the each match option to partial match (first delete the entries in the timers list)
I've just checked on mine http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161212/fb5e3f27825ea7ff0255821f7701a762.jpg that's what my listings say

Probably OK - I'm looking on Freesat, ITV2.
Ah okies, I've deleted original timer and redone using partial match, still no repeat circle though [emoji848]

[Removed - no longer relevant once I got to "Save".]
1st timer
2nd timer
Both showing correct date and time but not repeat icon That's because the timers aren't repeating. They are one-offs. The AutoTimer will create them as it finds matches.
A repeating timer is a different beast - when you want to record a particular channel at a particular time each day/week/etc regardless of what is on.
Ah okies I've got you now so I'll just watch for the recordings coming in, I was expecting it to show the repeat circle like a big standard timer recording
