Problem is the wait is becoming a bit long. There are many things that need to be fixed, but for months the main focus is Kodi? At least one new receiver (H7) will be out soon that has hardware similar to the SF4008 with Kodi already running.

Agree - think they took their eye off what is important and also have been swamped by their own marketing on this receiver.

So all the rhetoric about Octagon being more in touch than VU+ Didn't pan out then?
So all the rhetoric about Octagon being more in touch than VU+ Didn't pan out then?
Well, they constantly keep communicating (better than any other outfit), but I think they have perhaps found Arm, E2 and customer expectations (partly through their own Marketing hype) a bigger learning curve than they expected :)
New drivers coming thick and fast now. It's the vtuner bit that interests me, will test tomorrow probably.

Looks like PLS Combo is a hardware issue. Silabs not capable apparently. So far only one transponder transmitting in this mode.
Yes, too bad about that.
I quickly tested vtuner and was able to record from the single DVB-C tuner in the third slot and also DVB-C from a remote box, both recordings ok now.

did this make it into the new 14 update or is it to be included into the next update.
No, 14 is a couple of versions of driver behind now.
1. VTuner Support increased to 8 (VTuner: virtual USB Tuner)
-> Info: Total simultaneous 11 Tuner Support!
Still does not support simultaneous tuners for me.
Tuner 1-2 DVB-S2 dual tuner slot 1
Tuner 3 DVB-C single tuner use slot 2
Tuner 4 Sundtek DVB-C USB tuner
Tuner 5 Sundtek DVB-S2 USB tuner
So 5 tuners in total all working individually.
I tried on OpenVix 014 with new driver manually installed and OpenATV of today with new driver.
My testing method is as follows:-
1. Start recording 1 channel
2. Change channel to a different transponder and start another recording, both recordings at this point progress normally.
3. Change channel again to a different transponder and channel shows ok but the problem is that one of the recordings stops recording at that time.
So at the moment this seems to me that is 'simultaneous' tuner use is still not working!
Anyone else tried this feature ?
I've sent this report to Octagon.
Thanks Huevos, I also posted on their support forum.

http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?49093-How-to-install-Sundtek-USB-tuners-using-Sundtek-Control-Center
thnx, got everything installed, usb tuner is working but i still see only 1 tuner and i can't enable the other tuners in Sundtek Control Center.
What's next to enable the other tuners ?
All tuners should show up in "service searching" menu.
I only see 1 sundtek tuner in Tuner configuration, does the USB needs to be connected to USB3 input ?
What other tuners do you have/are you expecting to see? The SundTek control centre is only used to configure SundTek usb tuners.
Menu/Setup/Service Searching/Tuner configuration is where you need to be to see all tuners.
Yes and in Menu/setup/service searching/tuner config i only see 1 sundtek DVB-C tuner, i thought you could use Virtual tuners/ with this DVB-C/T USB tuner
I see Tuner C : Sundtek DVB-C (III) (1/0) USB
Switchable tuner types : DVB-T2,DVB-C
Enabled : DVB-T, DVB-C
Are there any other drivers to be installed from sundtek ?
It is only a single tuner. What more do you want?
PACKAGE CONTENTS: -
1x USB TUNER
i thought it would create virtual tuners ?
just read it's a question of a driver issue atm, so waiting then.

look here : http://support.sundtek.com/index.php/topic,4.0.html
I was talking about it creating VIRTUAL tuners!
The sundtek control center is showing 8 virtual drivers, but there is a new driver needed to show them in the searching list.
... I can't see mention of virtual tuners in the link you've posted??
well they're talking about in this thread if i'm not mistaken

...That's about Octagon drivers, nothing to do with SundTek.
ok, but it will create virtual tuners with the sundtek usb dvb-c tuner
isn't this it ?No. I think you don't understand.
INFO: 4 x VTuner (USB) possible (4 x Virtual USB tuner possible)
VTuner = USB tuner.
So it means the Octagon drivers support up to four USB tuners.
But you only have one USB tuner.
It doesn't matter if the drivers support up to five billion tuners, if you only have one tuner installed that is all you can use.
New drivers again today.

Just replying to the above drivers, I,ve tried on two occaisions to update to Vix 5 0 0 27, from vix 26.
And on both occasions i,ve lost Audio and had to revert back to Vix26.
The method i used to update was through the sf4008 menu-softwareupdate.
Is anyone else having this problem ?
The last driver release mentioned is not in 5.0.027, but has a fix for "ac3 no works. : fixed".
yes i know, its when i update to 27 from 26. I lose audio.
Enigma 2 is not new to me, Having bought a number of box,s from the sponsor.
As soon as i try to update to Vix 27, I lose audio.
.....and the audio problem (AC3) is fixed in the next driver release, which is not in 027.

When drivers change or any anything "major" I would always flash the image and restore backup settings. I personally would not software update (although I realise I am probably in a minority of 1) and because of that view I never software update.
Might not stop your issue, but a new flash is worth trying:)
... although just read on another forum similar posts ref audio, so perhaps 2 steps forward by Octagon and 1 step back?

Thank you twol.
As always you explain things in laymans terms, And not in a cryptic fashion.
And i sure not only myself appreciate that.
I will possibly try a usb flash or may wait untill things settle.
Thank you once again.

Apparently not .. standby issue seems fixed, but not sound judging by complaints elsewhere.... expect another driver update ....
Tonight - new driver update it says AC3 fixed .....:)
I'm still getting no 2160p audio with 5.0.031. However, I've found a separate problem with OpenVIX, and it has happened several times: waking the SF4008 after it has been in standby overnight, I find that all multistream channels have vanished from my satellite lists for both 5.0W and 12.5W. I then have to restore them from a backup. Non-multistream channels are unaffected. However, if the receiver was tuned to a multistream channel when it was placed in standby, channels on that transponder are not lost. I'm using the default version of satellites.xml, which includes all the multistream transponders on both satellites.
This has happened also with versions 027 and 029. I'm now trying to replicate it with (for the sake of an example) OpenATV, but so far all multistream channels have stayed put.
No channels have ever gone missing for me. What have you loaded that is updating your channels list?
Are you running ABM?
In years of using Enigma receivers, I've never knowingly installed anything that updates channel lists automatically. In this case, I've been using a clean install (following a factory reset) of OpenVIX 5.0.031 and now a a nightly build of OpenATV from a couple of days ago, also after a factory reset. In both instances, the only extra I've loaded is the DiSEqC plug-in tester. A plug-in called Programmlisten-Updater comes as a default plugin with OpenATV, though it doesn't seem to be activated and it doesn't appear to include either 5.0W or 12.5W; I've uninstalled it now. I don't know what ABM is (Automatic Bouquet Manager?) but I don't think I can be running it.
Just switching to standby and back on again doesn't cause these channels to disappear; it seems to happen only when the receiver is in standby for an extended period, such as overnight.
Hello All
Here is my fix for the issue with AC3 sound with 2160p 60hz, under the Video settings The last option on the very bottom " Control Hardware Chip Modes" I changed it to 12bit 4:2:0/4:2:2 no PIP.
It worked with images EGAMI, OPENVIX, OPENATV, SATDREAMGR AND OPEN8.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
Tunder
@Tunder
Never thought about this before (sold my SF4008), but the Mut@nt HD51 made this change some time ago, as the chip will only support certain features in set modes (read the HD51 multiboot documentation (where you can flip the modes) to see the modes and restrictions)
The last option on the very bottom " Control Hardware Chip Modes" I changed it to 12bit 4:2:0/4:2:2 no PIP.r
That hasn't worked here, alas, with either OpenVIX or OpenATV.

Thank you, Sicilian. I've been through this many times, always with the same result. This is my procedure, beginning with a freshly flashed OpenVIX 5.0.031:
Factory reset - restart - set 2160p50 video - set UK English - skip restore wizard - skip screen alignment - skip Internet connection check and automatic package installation - set Tuner A and Tuner B for simple installation, 28.2E only - scan Tuner B (reputed to be more reliable than Tuner A) for a predefined transponder (10773H) - skip further manual service scan - configure wired Internet. Receiver then outputs sound correctly. Set video chip mode to HDR (as in attached screen shot). Restart receiver. When startup is complete, there's now no sound.
I've also tried reconfiguring the video chip mode before doing the scan, and not reconfiguring it at all, but always the sound is dead after restarting the receiver. To bring it back, I have to change to 1080i/1080p and restart the receiver. This too works every time.
The SF4008 is connected to my LG OLED55B6V screen via a 4K HDMI input on an Onkyo TX-NR838 AV receiver. I have a Vu+ Solo4K connected to another 4K port on the same receiver. I've tried swapping the inputs over, but it doesn't make any difference.
When I revert to OpenVIX 5.0.026, sound works as normal in 2160p mode.
55156
Sad to say, version 5.0.032 hasn't corrected the 2160p no-sound problem here, even when the video chip is in HDR mode. It works during initial setup but doesn't survive a reboot.
Last driver update was in 5.0.028
Not surviving a reboot has to be a bit of a clue.
Are there any settings you're using which are set to "auto", which could change after a reboot?
Or maybe when the tv/amp is on/off when rebooting has a different effect?
This is happenIng after a factory reset. I've changed virtually nothing from the default settings other than to configure tuners -- and the video chip mode, which requires a reboot in order to take effect. Haven't installed bouquets or any plugins other than the DiSEqC tester.

My octagon goes through a Denon 2400 and then an LGsj800v. Why would be the TV if my receivers accepts all sort of formats?
works fine on mine tv and Box. sound like a tv issue or something around how you are connected. try direct from box to tv and see if you have same issue. if it was something to do with receiver software, we would all be affected
