View Full Version : Do Unicable LNBs work with cheap sat meters?
New dish and LNB arrived today. Installed dish, cant find any signals with either my needle style meter or my digisat meter. Put normal LNB in (that came with dish) and had no problem finding them.
Is this normal or is my unicable LNB faulty?
Thanks
On my V8 sat meter you have to set the tuner as unicable/jess and allocate an scr for it to work.
Probably won't work on a standard meter.
Thanks. I'll set it up with the normal LNB and hopefully swapping them over works, else time to spend more money :)
Dam, set it up perfectly with normal LNB, switched lnb over, and zero channels found. was hoping they were standard in that I wouldn't need to adjust the dish again. that's of course presuming I've set up the sat box properly.
Anyone know of a CHEAP meter that works with Unicable please?
Thanks
Check cabling!! Especially the connectors ... in fact wrap the connectors with tape so that they cannot loosen.
If the dish is locked tight and you have just changed the LNB then it should work... but connectors can be an issue.
Have you set the tuners on the receiver correctly?
It has to be advanced and LNB as Unicable/Jess.
There's some info in this post

I think I have. I've been doing all this on my old GB Quad, trying to get all cabling etc sorted before installing new TV and new sat box, could that make any difference?

Looks the same as my setup apart from the brand of LNB

Just tried it on the new sat box. Still nothing
Would help if I wasn't a stupid idiot :)
I stupidly presumed the make and model were read from the LNB. You saying your model was different, I checked mine :)
All working now :)
