Heads up guys on latest OpenVIX, flashed into startup_3 when I press menu - multiboot and try go back to startup1 or startup2 I get that message in title.
Only on latest vix, easily solved as turned off, held power button, booted back to startup1, then multiboot from PurE2 in to OpenATV, then into OpenVIX, then same error when try go back.
All startups was in /boot also.
So this is more a heads up just incase anyone else experiences same issue on latest release in multiboot on Vix.

Apologies - forgot that sf8008 has different mount volume from anything else!
Fixed - if you need a resolution before next build release let me know.

Thanks, yes if you do have the fix prior to release be handy as left the image in startup3 anyways.

Is it ok to leave it as it is for now then and next release it will just work?

Yes. Nothing in the current slots will be erased..... its just been a bit of a slog to sort out a few SF8008 challenges.
Depending on which Image you are currently running, you have a couple of options:
If you are currently running another image then you can download the next ViX version to your PC and then copy it to the receivers HDD/usb and use the images flashing software to flash the OpenVix release(assuming you have backed up your ViX settings) or
if you know which slot is OPenViX then copy that STARTUP_X (where X is the slot) to STARTUP and reboot back to ViX, then run software update.
Or if you are on OPenViX then run software update to move to the new version..
Only really use openvix but wanted to try another as a backup. I have tried to update openvix but there is no download?
....... you are too fast! I believe a new build will be run over next few days

Oh I understand now sorry lol

Which version of Vix please - be precise!
SO flashed from which version to which version?
Can you also give me a screen shot - use the web interface its easier.

Using vix 5.2.026
Installed openatv 6.2 into slot 2. Openvix reboots but the LCD panel on front says boot and it doesn't do anything.

maybe you added a LCD skin that crashed , hence display is blank

?? You cannot add a skin as it is just a number LCD.
Installed openatv 6.2 into slot 2. Openvix reboots but the LCD panel on front says boot and it doesn't do anything.
So ViX 5.2.26 is in slot 1? You flashed OpenATV into slot 2 with ViX and now its stuck in boot?

Yep followed all the instructions to a t. Openvix is in slot one and openatv in slot 2. It just won't boot
So power off, remove the sdcard and it should boot into slot 1.
Then menu/info .. confirm what version is running.
Put into deep standby , reinsert teh sdcard, power up.
Then long press power button, multiboot and see what the system thinks is on the slots

sorry.
Says successfully flashed and then rebooting box. The boot shows on LCD and the screen shows the satellite image and thengoes black and back to the satellite image
Taken the SD card out and still doesn't boot
Ok so powered on pressing power button and then selected slot 2. Booted into openatv setup and then longer pressed power button went to multiboot and selected slot 1 and it booted openvix but going to multiboot in openvix and selected slot 2 it will get stuck in a boot loop again and will not boot
Well it should do! But no help to you.
I have just tried and works perfectly for me ...... put the sd card back in and reboot and boots to the sd card.
So you will have to usb flash the latest ViX then turn on debug logs and save them to usb.
Flash ATV to slot 2 and if it fails then pull off the log from the usb (will be in logs directory) via PC and post here please.

Just openvix to anything else will not boot by multiboot in standby/restart then multiboot.
It doesn't fail the install it just doesn't boot when it reboots.
I constantly flip between images so its not that.
I have just used Vix to flash the latest OpenATV into slot 3 .. multibooted from ATV back to ViX and then multibooted back to ATV......... worked fine.
Can I have logs please?
How do I switch on logs? I am currently in openvix now with openatv on slot 2.
Menu/setup/system/logs/settings
Change logs location to something other than flash
Enable debug logs Yes
Show logs in extensions list ..yes
Save (green button)
Then after running a test .. use filezilla (or another file transfer program on PC) to transfer from location (e.g. /media/hdd/logs ) to PC and post here.
What openatv image did you use and did you flash via image backups?
I downloaded todays 6.2 OpenATV image (http://images.mynonpublic.com/openatv/current/sf8008/openatv-6.2-sf8008-20190209_mmc.zip ) transfered to the the Imagebackup directory on my HDD and then used ImageManager to flash the image.
Same as me. It is a freshly flashed box with openvix latest.
How big is your SD card thinking that might be the issue..m

8GB because it can only be used for multiboot-if it is setup correctly it should have 4 partitions 8MB, 2GB, 8MB, 2GB

That doesn‘t show anything other than startup - I probably should have said that once you change log settings you need to reboot to capture debug log.

I did reboot after I enabled. Then installed openatv to slot 2 and rebooted and then again stuck in boot loop.

If you can connect by putty to teh receiver, then login (root, no password) and type cat /proc/partitions > /tmp/part.txt and then use filezilla to transfer and post here.
About says image 5.2.026
Image slot Startup_1 emmc slot 1

There has to be something wrong witth the setup on that sd card as posted it should have 4 partitions 8MB, 2GB, 8MB, 2GB

That looks perfect!
OK - cant‘t see the issue...
Hate to say this but can you reflash, set the logs enabled, take a settings backup and reboot.
After reboot, press blue button, select log manager, press red button to display debug logs - delete all but latest.
Flash OpenATV into another slot.
At this point - does it normally just reboot ViX or stick on boot?
I assume you see the ofgwrite message block when it flashes the slot with kernel and root?? And successful flash msg from ofgwrite?
Either way would like you to pull off the log. If it reboots ViX need last debug log but one.
If not sure give me all logs
58343
Does this look correct? Before I reflash.
I assume thats /boot. If so its correct.
Is this before flashing with ImageManager?
I assume thats /boot. If so its correct.
Is this before flashing with ImageManager?
After. Just going to reflash openvix now.
Wait: can you explain that?
What have you have flashed with ImageManager?
Wait: can you explain that?
What have you have flashed with ImageManager?
Just openatv zip file
Just going to reflash latest openvix image using recovery menu unless I need to check something first?
So at this moment you have OpenViX installed on slot 1 and OPenATV in another slot and you are in OpenATV image??
So at this moment you have OpenViX installed on slot 1 and OPenATV in another slot and you are in OpenATV image??
Openvix installed on slot 1 (I just flashed using recovery menu as new box) and openatv on slot2. Running openvix.
So i have the latest openvix image unzipped on a usb stick. No hardrive or sdcard plugged in and going to goto recover from usb stick?
So usb flash of OPenViX and .... then you installed OPenATV with IMageManager?
So if long press power and go to multiboot what does it say about the slots occupation?

Correct. Just going to reflash and start again and will come back.

Why? I am missing something here?!

ok so I now have fresh install of openvix and I havnt inserted microsd card yet. Do you want to check anything first?
1) have you enabled debug logs and rebooted?
2) take a settings backup if you haven‘t done so with logs enabled.
3) you need to reboot after inserting SD card (I usually power down, insert & then power back up).

Great -then hopefully some logs.

do you want logs before int sd card?
58344 This are logs before int sd card.
What shall I do now int the SD card using multiboot menu?
Insert sd card reboot and then use the long press power/multiboot to se what it think is on the SDcard.
What worries me is why it didn't boot up without teh SDcard it should do.
Anyway if logs are enabled and teh card shows ATV on a slot trying booting to it with the multiboot menu.
Then hopefully we will have logs.
From that either I can work out what is going on or I will have to provide you with a patched version.
Before flashing openatv using image manager.
58345
After flashing openatv again boot loop.
58346
Logs attached
58347
That log is pure vanilla doesn‘t show any actions at all ..... can you check whether there is another log?

When you flashed with Vix ImageManager - the system should have rebooted - did it?
These are all the logs from today.

That has been resolved
Have you tried rebooting (power off/on) with only hdmi/lan connection, no usb or sdcard
That has been resolvedOk, but nothing was mentioned in the 2 threads.

If there is only power from usb could be - ofgwrite is not clearing a mount of the root device - says busy - this should not happen.
Lcoldfire - do you have a usb with about 30+GB you can temporarily use as HDD instead of the WD passport?
.........Back to logs!

Ok so with the HDD unplugged and only sd card plugged in multiboot works fine...
So logs show that after ImageManager flashes there is hang on teh HDD which stops the reboot to OpenATV image... and it then tries to reboot normally to previous image and obviously hangs (boot msg/satellite picture).
The longpower/multiboot sessions shows OK, and it changes the STARTUP ... reboots but hangs.

Magic ........ so its the usb and fluctuating power on the WD - it obviously leaves the receiver usb connection in some weird situation that is not cleared during boot up.

So replace the passport?
So replace the passport?
Afraid so ............ what do you use the HDD for?
If only light use a largish usb stick would be fine, otherwise buy a usb attached storage device with its own power....

Just for recording and picons EPG etc

Then a large usb stick might do depending on how many recordings - I use a 128GB on my SF8008.
.... and by the way thank you for being patient and doing everything that was asked - else we wouldn‘t have got to this point.

I really do appreciate your help. So I am guessing the issue is not enough power to the usb drive?

Yes - obviously it works some of the time but in "heavy" use there is just not enough power to handle the load.
