[VU+ Duo] Vu+ HBBTV

Hi,

as you can see in their git, Vu+ added the Opera HBBTV Browser to their enigma2 recently.

Also, the VTi Team already released an image with HBBTV included.

Can you tell me if there are already plans to build this nice function into the ViX Image?

LoL, VTi has an easy job: they add some fancy stuff and a skin to the Original image, and they're ready!
As I said in another thread: we are looking into that, but it's a major job due to the way VU+ implemented HbbTV.

I know that this is an easy thing for them because they build on top of the original image.

The PLi devs said it shouldn't be to hard, because vuplus' solution is similiar to the one Xtrend implemented.

But it's nice that you already thought about that...

That's not what I've read. I just saw a statement that Pli awaits a patch made by VU+ especially for PLi

Be aware: the HbbTV support on VU's is only in a beta-state. On many channels HbbTV will not (yet??) work.

Actually it is already pretty stable. I have not found a single channel where HBBTV would not display correctly. So that is no excuse to not implement it.

There are 2 'excuses' (if we needed one):
1- the way VU + implemented HbbTV-support requieres a major Enigma2 hack (i.e. a lot of work, onlu for VU boxes);
2- HbbTV doesn't work on many channels (such as the Dutch channels, Dr.Dish-TV and a number of French channels).

I don't know about other countrys, but in Germany a lot channels have a HBBTV page.

got to ARD select HBBTV, select program, try WDR (cannot switch), try HR (cannot switch) and after 1 or 2 more tries it freezes completely. It is very beta IMHO.

ORF's HbbTV is in closed beta ... the earlier (also closed) beta had leaked, and so people were able to have a look at it, but that's since been fixed, and public shouldn't have access to the ORF HbbTV ...

... or did I miss some recent changes ?

Anyway, gave it a shot today ... it's neat, I can see alot of potential there, especially HBBig opens many interesting doors ... BUT ... I would not for any money in the world switch from the current ViX to the current VTi ... ViX is like a million times more "thought-through", especially when it comes to usability (it just makes SENSE to ppl that aren't tech-savvy, like Wife, Kids etc).

Hope you guys manage to implement it anytime soon ... It sure looks like it could be alot of fun (heck, world-of-satellite.com could have it's own subsite for HbbTV )
