So one person complained and now everybody has to have an increased timeout without an option to change it. Wow.

It increased by only 2 seconds & the timeout can be cancelled by pressing the OK button anyway.

My wife never presses the OK button even though I tell her to so the extra 2 seconds does/can make a difference. The fact that a single person complaining can force a global change is surprising.

No, that's not how we act.
We get dozens of requests on all kinds of items; we try to make a reasonable assessment of the request in terms of the reasonableness, feasibility, impact on other aspects of the firmware, impact on other users, amount of work to implement, number of alike requests etc. And in the end we reach a decision.
Happily all users are free to choose any image to their likings (and then you'll notice a same kind of process for other images, or image-builders who don't listen to users at all).

Be happy, count your blessings!

Which is of course completely up to her.
And again: this is not about a single person's request.

And moreover: I'm glad we are not being 'forced' in any way!

I take your point about making a reasoned decision based on the feedback you get, but how many people asked for this, vs the many thousands that use OE3.0. Its great if you are able to make such changes, but I agree with StuBFrost that such changes ideally should be options - not hardcoded changes, especially if the target audience is small, which appears to be the case here (correct me if I'm wrong).

You say we can use any cut of the build we like - yes thats true, but the beauty of this build is the (green flashing light) update option, and you lose any improvements you might find useful via that facility if you lock yourself down to one build.

I think the dev(s) are doing a grand job with this build, but really you would make peeps a lot happier if you restrict how small target audience changes are implemented.

YMMV - but thats my opinion.

BTW, Just thought I'd point out that my request on post #639 is a small audience request, so I have probably shot myself in the foot with my above post ;) Nevertheless, its something I had to say.

no it was not just a single person but we took into consideration his points to make it a little more user friendly for elderly users.

I don't wish to flame, but Jesus mate I've just snapped my last violin string.

We always take multiple points into consideration when deciding on what features to implement and we decided that a 2 second timeout to make it more user friendly for the elderly or those with other problems by far outweighed the possible negative affects. after all a able bodied person can easily press the ok button after inputting the channel number to instantly zap as opposed to say a person with arthritis who has problems hitting the keys before the command timed out.

This is not about a single person making a complaint and i should have worded my reply a little better, it's about making the image as user friendly for all groups without over complicating things with even more user defined options and menu's.

so for those who dont like this feature, im sorry but you'r just going to have to get used to it as we at this moment in time have no plans to change it again.

@player1 - I think the point StuBFrost was originally making was more the general point about making changes that affect all, based on one or two isolated requests/complaints. So same opinion from me.

However Phoenix and Rob have justified the change, based on a collective decision by the Vix team, so I guess who are we to complain.
Our point has been made, listened to and with some justification overruled. I can live with the change, It does not make the world stop spinning IMHO.

Just a quick question - where can I find the panic button options in the VIX 3.0 menus? I can't find it now and I want turn it off

OK, don't answer that, just found it (channel selection configuration panel for those interested - I prefer to be able to toggle between my last channel and my current channel rather than zap to channel 1).

The < > buttons also let you zap through multiple previous channels.

Having problems with the OTA upgrade. At build 344 and I try to upgrade. It looks like its going it, but reboots quicker than anticipated and I'm still on 344.
Common problem? or just me?

EDIT:
Cancel that - forgot to search this thread. So going to try the forced upgrade (init 4 && opkg update && opkg upgrade && init 6)

Ok next question (that search will not help me with btw) Is it likely to be an image or firmware problem if the Duo does not recognise a DVB-T tuner in the back USB ports, but it does in the front port?

I use a Nova T in a back port on a Duo all the time, no issues with it besides not working on an E2 restart, needs a full reboot.

OK Thanks. Not really what I wanted to hear lol, but appreciate the feedback.

I have updatet to the latest 378 version. And now when I press the red button it opens guide and not single epg. Is that only on my box.

Hi All, is anyone else experiencing issues when attempting to mount a network drive? Whenever I select the network mount option (within Setup – Network) I receive an enigma2 crash.

If there is a quick fix then I would be very interested. Can supply logs if required :-D

Thanks,

Rich
