hi
come in from nightshift and turned on my vu duo it gets as far as the openvix startup screen with the revolving vix logo in the corner but wont go any further tried hard reset but still same prob can anyone help please

you may want to try and flash with the latest build and don't use any backups just do a clean install can always be worth a try

sorry for the late reply guys, tried to reflash via usb (using front and rear ones)but it just sticks on the start up screen...help

make sure theres no other usb slots being used, also try another stick and make sure its file system is fat, make sure you extract the vuplus folder directly onto the root of the stick

yes that worked thanks guys...now the big learning curve on how to get it back working...a mate set this all up for me last year he has now moved abroad...doh as a matter of interest whats the easiest image to work with..

as this is on a VIX forum we are all going to say VIX!! i havnt used anyother but the help i get from here and how well the image has been for me i see no point in changing!

Each image has its own little idiosyncrasies, and each image works in more or less a similar way, although things may be in a different place to what you are used to.

I will be honest and say that when i had my Vu+ Duo i used to run Blackhole on it as it was my preference for that box, although that was well over 18 months ago and the VIX image has come along in leaps and bounds since then.

Most people get used to an image and inevitably have a tendency to stick to it. Change can be quite hard when your used to a certain piece of firmware. I run VIX now on two of my boxes and now i have got used to it i think its a good strong solid stable image, although compared to the images i used to use, Powerboard VX & SIF Jackal there are a lot of things that are in a different place, and different buttons do different things

The only person who can decide which is the best image for you is you, nobody else can make that decision for you, although people will give you guidance if asked.

The other thing you have to look at is the support from each individual team and how easy it is to access the support you require. Like i've said further back in this post, I like the Powerboard VX image. Its a good solid build and does more or less everything i need it to do, although when things do go wrong, getting support from their forum which is mostly in German isn't exactly the easiest as i can't speak or read German that well. Its the same with SIF other than its Italian not German.

What i have always said to people when asked, is try different images and the stick to the one you get on with the best. At the end of the day its your receiver so its up to you what image you put on it.

happy days just completed a full install with ccam and vhannibal settings all up and running..phew funnily enough the hardest part was getting my dish working properly with usals...:D

oooohhh noooo dont believe it...turned it off for a proper reset ...and guess what....back to square one...whats happening:confused:

If you got it from the site sponsor, it's an original, so no worries there.
What plugins did you install when you got it working? where did you get cccam from?

Try a fresh flash using the latest build on http://openvix.co.uk
You'll also find suitable cams there, I use cccam 2.3.0 without issue.

ok thanks a bit late now i will do it tomorrow and let you know how i get on ..thanks for your time appreciated

reflashed it etc late last night ,its been on this morning ,switched it off and on a few times and it seems stable ,only prob is the ccam! keeps sticking every couple of minutes annoying also when i press arrow up on middle of remote instead of whatever sat im on the channels dont come up but favs does(using vhannibals latest)!!!

For the cam problem, in cam manager disable all cams from auto-starting, then reboot, after the reboot confirm that no cams are set to auto-start then enable cccam and do another restart.

The above may sound like rubbish but I've found that the cam manager can sometimes get confused so doing the above sorted it for me.

tried that thanks but no joy its doing my head pic freezes every 20 secs...maybe it dont like the image

Have you tried installing a different version of cccam first. I would also suspect the cccam.cfg file you may be using. If your using ver 2.3.0 you need a config file forat least 2.2.1, not an earlier one as a few settings have changed between builds.

The issue may also be where ever you are getting your line from.
