so received my duo today, previous used a F5s and i have to say the F5s had a sharper picture, i am using the hdmi but its just seems not as good, dont get me wrong its not like SD but its just down slightly on the F5s, is there a "sharpness" setting or something somewhere i am missing?

Nope: you can only make things worse when fiddling around with video 'enhancements'.
Not sure which image you're using, but please make sure that the plugin 'video enhancement' is not installed. If it is, simply de-install it.

Also please make sure that all so-called 'video enhancement'-settings on your TV have been disabled for the HDMI input in use. The same applies to overscan: switch it off if enabled.

The DUO should provide you an excellent picture quality. If it doesn't, something is wrong.

vu duo SD quality sucks. if I want to watch rte channels I use ariel rather than sat dish. the integrated SD (not HD tuner) is ten times better than that on the vu duo. HD quality is fine. no amount of playing makes much difference. the duo just has a crap tuner

if you disagree please post settings that would make SD better on vu duo. i have an integrated SD tuner on my TV which is 10 times better than the SD tuner on my duo. if you wish to say I'm wrong would love to program the settings that make it better. thanks

That's the whole point: you shouldn't make any settings 'to improve' the PQ.

sd is not the best for rte on the vu on sat and even on tv tuner on aerial always grainy,rte2hd is good on both but rte 1 is not in hd on sat but on aerial only,usually just stay on the hd channels
changing up to a better hdmi cable can benifit viewing and even clean power i use.

as you know I just changed to better HDMI cable. buddy upgraded to new vu duo authentic box and is so disappointed with SD quality

The HDMI cable won't change anything: as long as they're short, they will be fine.
The ones I use are all under €5;

Well, also without going into details: simply impossible.

Only when using (very) long cables the quality could be a factor, because of causing timing-issues. But even that would not make a picture 'hazy'.

same question, have used vix for years but how is it possible to deinstall plugin

which plugin? Menü, extensions and then red for remove plugins. If you want to remove ViX simply install another image as ViX is no plugin.

have deinstalled video enhancement plugin based on advice. SD quality, as it has for years now, still sucks. and buddy who has sadly bought the most recent version confirms it totally sucks on SD.

Its not fair to compare rte on saorview & satellite - the saorview transmission is at a higher bitrate and resolution so the picture via your ariel will be better regardless.
