NEW Client mode introduced in OpenViX build 5.0.013

I had intermittent problems with the picture but they were solved by improving my home plugs. I invested in a pair of TP-Link 2000s and it's been 100% since.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have another look at the network side of things.

Can the client box watch a different channel from.what is on in the server box?.
E.g if server is tuned to BBC can client watch Channel 4

Tried this today and it works very well.
Is there anyway the client receiver can watch recording stored on server receiver?

Not currently using this feature but it is on the todo list.

If you want to watch recordings use a network mount.

happy days now got it working on my vu zero thanks to team vix:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Okay, here's a question...

Would there be ever be a chance of the client mode working 2 ways?

I have a weird setup where I've a sat feed on the back of the house and a cable feed on the front. We are only in 6 months or so and internal/external cabling seems to be off limits with my wife.

The sat feed is for freesat to get the Scottish BBC's & STV etc as my wife is from Scotland (living in Dublin) using a vu+ solo2. The cable is virgin but I was thinking of getting a cable FBC tuner box with the hope of getting both sat & cable in both boxes via client mode.

This too much to ask for or would it be possible in the future? I'm sure I could activate either way via some menus but it would be great if it just worked all the time :)

Also are there any tunerless boxes that can be used as client only? I'm sure these could be made quite cheap if no tuners are needed.

Thanks :)

Client mode = receiver with no/disabled tuners

Use fallback tuners or RSCS instead. That way the receivers can share tuners for streaming. You cannot use ABM/CrossEPG unless you have the actual tuner.

Can you please explain how to use/setup fallback tuners

Menu -> System -> Service Searching -> Fallback.
Set "Enabled" to "yes" and fill in the details of the server box.

I've just set client mode up using my technomate nano T2 which has a motorised dish and a fixed sly feed. On my client, a Technomate nano, the channels from the fixed feed come through fine but on the motorised the box displays "No data on transponder! (Timeout reading PAT) . I've tried restarting both boxes any other ideas?

Sorted it, the server box was on, so had locked the tuner. Turned it off and all working great [emoji1] [emoji1]

Good job! But it is necessary to finish. Thank you!

dose the second box have to be connected to the tuners at the back of the box to use in client mode I was thinking of seting a box up stares in the bed room regards deltec

can I use any box for the second box then or do I have to use a liniux box for the second box in the bed room

I have been testing client mode tonight and noticed a strange problem.

I have an osmega (5.0.014) as the server and technomate 3T combo (5.0.024) as the client. I restart the gui on the 3T and I am getting excellent stream quality from the osmega but as I move through the bouquet services I can only open every second channel.

so for example:
s** hd prem opens
s** prem 1hr not opens
s** hits hd opens
s** hero hd not opens
and so on
etc

this happens in every bouquet
any ideas?

I've been meaning to look into this or report it too. It's the same on .24. I thought it was just me as I didn't see anyone else reporting it :-)

My client is vu duo2 and slave is Edision combo if it matters...

Chris, do you find some channels work somedays and not the next? And sometimes one ch won't work then it does if keep trying it??

All client mode does is import bouquet files from another box. If you guys can't open a stream that is nothing to do with client mode. You need to start looking at your network, and server box to be certain tuners are available.
