I don't mean that. I mean which commit has changed this.

I've mentioned the commits before, if we're on OE 5.0, then smb-global.conf changed here.....

Code:
https://github.com/oe-alliance/oe-alliance-core/blob/5.0/meta-oe/recipes-connectivity/samba/samba/smb-global.conf

https://github.com/oe-alliance/oe-alliance-core/tree/5.0/meta-oe/recipes-connectivity/samba/samba

Smb-branding.conf doesn't appear to have changed for 2 years, but @thecaretaker says it has (post #268).

I've also posted that I can't replicate what @thecaretaker is seeing, whatever I try on 5.5.013.016 (Py3).

Too cryptic for me so I will leave it for someone that knows what they are doing.

It is not something I use or am familiar with, so someone else needs to sort it out.

We're not on OE 5.0 - its the nextp3 branch

We're not on OE 5.0 - its the nextp3 branch

Builds by me and Huevos are from OE-A 5.0 branch, that will be for the python3 images.
nextp3 could run python2/python3, 5.0 is pure python3

Thanks for noticing that, it explains why I've been wasting my time recently, hardly anything has changed for 2 years in samba/P3.

Can you explain that again, I'm getting even more confused than ever at the moment.

Where is samba downloaded from in 5.5.013.016 (Py3) ?

Some people may still be using Nextp3, but the python3 images made available here were built using OE-A 5.0, which is python3 only

Thanks for clearing that up. The build instructions referred to the nextp3 branch. Its think its better that we are all singing off the same hymn sheet.

Sorry to keep going on about this, I've just flashed 5.5.013.016 (Py3) with no settings restored, does this look ok.....?

## User changes to Samba config go here

## You can overrule the insecure defaults and enforce password
## protected access to shares by uncommenting the following
## line, including the secure settings:

[global]
#       include = /etc/samba/distro/smb-secure.conf
        disable netbios = No

## You can hide and veto access to certain directories, e.g. mount points of
## other boxes in order to prevent round trips through your LAN
## In Samba 4.x this needs to be configured per share:

[Root]
# veto files = /ThisBox/OtherBox/AnotherBox/YetAnotherBox/
# hide files = /ThisBox/OtherBox/AnotherBox/YetAnotherBox/

[Harddisk]

Sorry to keep going on about this, I've just flashed 5.5.013.016 (Py3) with no settings restored, does this look ok.....?

well, they are python3 feeds from Huevos' url, so created by a OE-A 5.0 build

Thanks for clearing that up. The build instructions referred to the nextp3 branch. Its think its better that we are all singing off the same hymn sheet.

Just to be clarify...
  • The first couple of images we released were before the 5.0 branch existed, so were built from nextp3.
  • Images built after June 10th will be from branch 5.0.

Something odd is going on with Power Timers.
I don't know if it's Py3 specific, I never used them before.
I set a single Power Timer:
Code:
Timer type: auto standby
Sleep delay: 240
Repeat type: repeated
Now I have hundreds of Power Timers all the same!!

Something is seriously screwed up with restoring backed up settings that include timers.
Power timers get doubled up!
Finished recording timers get doubled up!
I don't really understand how something this barmy can possibly be happening.
What can go this wrong with just restoring the saved files from the backup and rebooting?
