It seems not possible flashing the Octagon SF8008 from USB sticks, other than recovery images who clean all four slots.
If I want to flash only, say, the slot 2, I can only download the images from network.
But from USB, no way. So it becomes very difficult to restore a previously backed up image.
I tried many sticks, formatted in fat32, ntfs and ex-fat.
Selecting USB Multiboot Image Upgrade in the Multiboot menu, as soon as I press OK button this message appears:
No image found in the storage device
Any suggestion please? Thanks.

Can't you download vix image and flash via vix image manager into a slot? If you have a storage device setup as media/hdd send the backup zip file to /media/hdd/imagebackups/ same for images downloaded from vix downloads

I think if current image is OpenATV location is media/hdd/images

Code:
ofgwrite -m2 /media/usb/octagon/sf8008
the directory must contain files:
kernel.bin
rootfs.tar.bz2

In ViX ImageManager hit menu key and change library to wherever you are saving backup images... but should be HDD

Thank you to all for your kind replies, but every mentioned operations are possible only if an image is just running.
Why the USB option in the Multiboot menu does not work? What must I do to upload an image from there? Which type of file are needed? I tried with both compressed and extracted files (the usual Octagon folder with its file structure in it), but no way.

As per another post of mine…..
I stuck a usb with the 5 files from the sf8008 recovery zip (not the zip for online flashing), in rear usb slot( no other usb stick), powered on holding power button until UPDT on display….. sat waiting for recovery screen (takes time at least on my sf8008)…. Entered option 2 which flashes recover and image…..waited for boot and away you go.
The reason I am against usb flashing is all the issues we see in posts with it not working on any receiver…. Often need oldest smallest usb stick you can find and when it works….store safely for next use(hopefully never).
