Hi all,

After the upgrade from 6.7.004 I noticed the DUO 4KSE wouldn't deep standby cleanly, instead the TFT was backlit and the volume / channel buttons also were, whilst the prior convention was that the power button was dimly lit only.

Also I had to toggle DHCP -- > Static -- > DHCP and the other network shares returned, not sure why these are and we don't / didn't have logs enabled.

Reverted to another MMC slot with 6.7.004 all resumes now.

Well hello everyone.

Time has moved on and just weeks ago, the two multistream sats here can lock if I manually scan the TP's with our VU+ DUO 4K SE's.

This wasn't possible even a year ago / great work and I have always found the VU+ able to cope with multi tasking smoothly / very easily !

It's brilliant to utilise the fast channel change (was up to three seconds delay using the mandatory CAM+Card on another sat for FTA) and the FBC now we can record unlimited services ! 🥳

We are retiring our Zgemma H7S for the moment, but this install may not last as a new sat is imminent, fully software defined, ultra high S/R. :(

A question please about AGC (Automatic Gain Control) and why do E2's report it differently when I haven't configured an aspect of tuning correctly, yet we have excellent service.

These are both VU+ DUO 4K SE's of similar tuner and close serial number, bought 2020.

what I noticed yesterday is that astra 28.2 now receive 16.8 db AGC 6 % instead of last week 14.6 db.

Has the weather changed? Has it now stoppedor started to rain? Rain/clouds can attenuate the satellite signal that reaches you and the Automatic Gain Control AGC is just compensating?

Also you cannot directly compare the results from 2 different boxes. The receiver in one may be more may be more sensitive than the receiver in another. The manufacturer may have different algorithms for calculating the figures. It's not just enigma boxes but many different other "set top boxes" will report different signal strengths etc. for the same signal. The displays of SNR (signal to Noise Ratio), AGC (Automatic Gain Control) and BER (Bit Error Rate)* allow you to judge if you have enough signal on all transponders for reliable reception. It can help with the final aligning of a dish and the skew of the LNB.

*BER should ideally always be zero.

Noticed mine is different too weather is dry here.Normally the AGC is up in the 90s.

@adm - yes, some really good points.
Located on a marginal reception area for 28.2E, I am only too aware of impact from weather, disappearance of signal in Summer evenings and the issue of varying reception from the 3 satellites.
Regarding SNR, AGC and BER,the only one that matters as far as I am concerned is SNR - below 8% I know its going to die!

Is this Fast Channel Change related to satellite receivers only? I have cable tuners and I don't see any difference when changing channel. There is an adverse effect here in Finland. If I enable Fast Channel Change I loose subtitles on some channels.

Only works on some Vu receivers used in conjunction with a unicable lnb. And is only quick when zapping to the next channel in the same bouquet.

Hi all, our DUO4KSE002 powers on with the best HT we have ever experienced.

Every now and then I remove old recordings and from a PC with 6.8.006 and 6.8.007 I have noticed the NFS and Samba have to re-install, is this me, or a security update.

🤠

Good morning all.

A couple of long standing quirks (not related to the release channel update):

Current > openvix-6.9.002.release-vuduo4kse

A: We power on our VU+ DUO 4K SE most days between 16:00˜19:00 and when we use the latter time there are two schedules recording, but the default channel cannot resolve its service [wallpaper only, no audio], work around: Toggle up ˜ down channel.

B: When tuning from the last channel in the final bouquet, if I select 'Channel up' the VIX throbber will commence and I have to reboot with Telnet. This behaviour is reproducible when tuned in this case to a FTA low SR / non MIS service, strong signal 14.8dB, quickzap to next bouquet is enabled (just checked) and works on all others'.

Otherwise superb, we have had a fault free eleven months on the new drivers with the high SR TP's.

If you are using wifi there is a bug in 6.9.02 that will be fixed in the next release, typically box freezes.

What bug? First I have heard of this. Which receiver?

@Huevous, I recently purchased a gigablue UHD 4k pro from WOS, I had to send it back as it kept freezing, Stef has told me there is a bug in the wifi with vix 9.0.2 and he has reported it. That's all I know.
