[VU+ Duo2] 2 Picon Folders - Which should i use?

Hi,

Hoping for a little guidance.....

As long as i've had the Duo2 i've been using ViX 3.0 and have had two 'picon' folders. One on the root of the unit and one contained within /shared/enigma2.

I have a problem where every time i update more and more of the picons on the LCD screen don't match the channels, but the EPG is always fine. Obviously one of the folders is for the LCD picons and the other for the EPG, and i guess the ones being updated are the EPG picons.

But why are the LCD picons changing to random ones, for instance most recently a lot of the picons on the lcd are EKAT??? I have previously copied the picon folder from Enigma2 to the root but this hasn't worked recently.

Questions:

1 - Which folder is updated when i update through the feeds?

2 - Which folder on the Duo2 is for the LCD and which is for the EPG?

3 - Can i just have one folder for both that is updated through the feeds?

This is not normal and probably means that since you've been running VIX 3.0 you have been clicking and installing things without knowing what you do. This is all I can think of with the limited amount of info you have given.

So I've got two options here:

1) I AM going to waste hours trying to ask you every little detail about what you did and how to rectify
OR
2) YOU are going to waste 15 minutes, doing a clean flash with the latest Vix release and no backup restore.


Then, since you mention EKAT, I'm guessing you installed picons from somebody called ocram?? If this is the case you wait with the installations of the picons until you see a version that is newer then 2013-12-04--20-34-58 in the feed. When a version appears that starts with 2013-12-07.... you can install that one.

Q1. I don't know. Possibly the one in your root directory. I don't use the feeds for picons. You could use the 'setpicon' plugin to manually assign picons to channels (in Australia I find this is easiest... but where you are everyone tries to do everything for you...)

Q2. Use the LCD4LINUX setup to select which picon directory to use. If you know you have two, then this will tell you which one is used by LCD and it is being randomly changed? If your epg is using the root one, then change the LCD4LINUX picon path to match.

Q3. Yes, see Q2. Use setup of LCD4LINUX to set the picon directory to the same as used by epg etc.

I recommend that you upgrade to latest build 797. Good Luck

I would:
1- De-install all picons (via the plugin browser)
2- Delete all picon-folders
3- Install any package you want to have (and preferably in flash, as the box has plenty of it)
4- Assign that folder to L4L

Ocram, you are kinda correct, I started out by using a backup I downloaded and proceeded to modify that image to my liking! I thought that might cause some issues eventually.

Sorry if it seemed I had lost interest, I have an even bigger problem that started yesterday morning, I won't go in to it here as its not the right place.

Put it this way, ii've lost all channels.

So as it happens I will likely be doing a fresh install, can someone point me to the latest ViX3.0 download for the Duo2?

If I didn't have to do a clean install I would have given those suggestions a try and I'm sure I would have solves this minor issue.
