[VU+ Uno] EPG Populate, ABM, N/A Channel List

Good Morning Everyone,

I don't know if this is an image, epg or ABM issue. So apologise if this is posted on the wrong forum.

I have a vu uno and updated to image 800, version 3, build 802, kernel 3.1.1 via the online box update two days ago. When the online update finished and the box rebooted, I got n/a's on all the channels, main bouquet and sub bouquets, like entertainment, documentaries and such like.

I have a similar problem to some on here about the channel lists not populating properly. I have started this thread as I don't want to hijack the other threads.

I removed catseye plug in that I use and reset everything on ABM, rescanned all the channels and installed the catseye plug in again. Rob actually guided me through some of this on the other thread. This seemed to resolve the problem I thought as the channel lists and EPG appeared.

This morning, the same thing again, ABM and EPG have tried to update at 5am this morning, I turned the unit on and again all channels were n/a's. I have again reconfigured ABM and scanned and all channels have appeared again with the EPG.

Before updating to image 800 when turning the unit on, pressing the up button then the blue brought the selection of all channels, sub bouquets and the channel list and EPG was there but not this morning.

A manual scan of ABM brings the channels back but I think that when the auto update/refresh of EPG kicks in at 5am, the channel lists come up with n/a's.

The main thing is: as long as you say 'I have again reconfigured ABM and scanned and all channels have appeared again with the EPG' all is fine.
It is very well possible that the previous settings were outdated (even when updated recently; I have no idea at what time of the day Sky updates their transponders and transponder info).

Hello Rob,

I did the same thing day before yesterday, reconfigured the ABM and EPG.

I don't think I have ever had to reconfigure ABM or EPG, two or three times a week. I don't think I have ever encountered this issue of n/a in the channel lists before even when I was a complete novice.

As you might recall, I thought it was a conflict between me using ABM and Catseye together.

Reconfiguring ABM & Cross should indeed not be needed, but re-running might be.

Hello Rob,

Prior to the update to image 800, I had no problems with the ABM and EPG auto updates. Now all of a sudden I am getting n/a on the channel lists which I presume is stopping the EPG from updating/showing.

Why would the manual update show the channels and epg but the auto update mess it up?

Seems a lot of people including myself have had this. It's not an image problem. I also had it a few year ago different receiver different image.
My solution was delete satellite.xml
Delete all satellite from my bouquets.
After a reboot upload a new satellite.xml and rescan all satellite.

My be a long way around but it worked for me every time

A couple of days ago when the problem started I thought it was to do with me using ABM and Catseye together. Rob kindly helped me sort that out. it worked okay for a couple of days but the n/a channel list seems to have come back again.

It came back with me too after a rescan and a ABM update or if you upload a hole bouquet.
After a reset or after doing an update it seems to revert back I think that is why people are thinking it's update related.

I had the same problem with a dreambox 800hd and openpli abt a year or two ago after sly did a big update.

It seems like the box reverts back to the old sat frequencies after a reset.

I'm sure someone knows technically why this happens but for me this is a solution to the bug.

Hello Scoobydoo,

I find this strange, if you are saying that I need to delete the old satellites XML file, why have I not had this n/a channel list problem before? Channels are always changing and moving frequencies.

I am sure I read somewhere that ABM is built so that the XML is the up to date one, would that not overwrite the file that is on my receiver?

I have never had to delete an XML file and in the past, ABM has added and deleted channels without me having to edit anything manually.

Maybe I am missing something here . . . .

ABM and AB 28.2 work independently of satellites.xml.

The ABM is obviously updating the correct channels when I do the manual scan as I can see the new channels on the list, BBC3 HD, BBC4 HD and the Christmas channels but when the auto update is being done, something is not working right.

Correct: the satellites.xml is only being used for scanning, not for tuning.

ABM does not scan. ABM get the data off the data from the satellite feed,
Scan uses the satellites.xml file to interrogate the listed satellites and transponders. Unless performing a blind scan.

They are two different processes. You can always transfer a satellites.xml file if you suspect this is a cause of your issue.

All I know is it works and it will solve your problem. And yes it's nothing to do with vix or ABM
