Problem - i think my hard drive is failing. It's been years.
Signs i've seen: scrolling through recorded stuff, system comes to a halt/crashes if i hover over a particular video.
Generally slow scrolling through recorded files. I've bought a new drive.
I initially took the old drive out the satellite box, stuck it in the PC, and it recognised the drive but said it was empty in hard drive management in control panel (no volume assigned, said it was 100% free and only option was to delete volume)
So put it back in the box and transferring files over via ftp. (thought I could just swap the drive out the stb, put it in PC, and copy files that way, but i guess due to it being a 'linux' drive or whatever it couldn't 'see' it)
But i'd like to check the drive to confirm my diagnosis that it was indeed broken. How can i do this in the vu?
Or will i have to put it back in the PC, wipe the data, create a new volume, then do a SMART test?
