Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how well the "remote channel stream converter" plugin works? as I'm think about getting a VU+ Zero for the bedroom, currently I have a raspberry pi using the kodi vuplus PVR addon and it works, the picture quality is good, just the issue I have is it takes an age to update the EPG and it's slow at changing channels, maybe 5-10 seconds. If I got another enigma2 box and used the remote channel plugin, does it make changing the channel quicker or does it still take a few seconds? I imagine it won't be as fast as using the server box but is it ok? I tried to look on youtube for a video but couldn't find anything.

Many thanks.

works fine with a good fixed connection or a fast wifi (130 mb).A slower wifi gives problems for HD channels with latest images.I went back to hades 10 and working fine. With latest 15 I have stuttering for recorded playback trough remote even with wired connection

Thanks bellejt, could you tell me how long it takes for a channel to start streaming? I said 5-10 seconds on the pi, I was mistaken, it's more like 25-30. Is it quicker than that? could you conformable scan through the channels or would it really only be useful if you knew what you wanted to watch?

it's hit and miss on different channels I find... I've tested this loads on my Samsung SMART TV app, and can't predict whether it'll be 5 seconds or 30 at times...

here it takes only a second.I have different boxes connected.Main is Vu+ Duo2 and slaves are vu+ duo2 and optimuss os1.working and switching channels immediatly.Streaming channels perfect ,even HD.Streaming recording was stuttering on latest hades.Went back to 12 and working fine.Optimuss is on apollo 88.Duo's are connected wired and optimus wifi vap11G.

You won't be disappointed if you go down this route. If you are using a wired lan then you wont notice any real difference from watching your server box downstairs - a pretty elegant solution really.

If the boxes are hard wired it will be just like using the internal tuner of the client box.

This is what I wanted to hear, thanks :)

I've found in between duo2 solo2 and samsung TV using pembo app it works really well hard wired, even for hd channels so long as they are fta, the problem comes when the channel you are streaming requires decrypting from your server at the same time. Without getting deep into grey areas some sort of qos setting might be useful.

I've only ever had great results using my Ultimo as master box and Duo 1 as wired slave. It's all instant channel change for me. I've never got the EPG to populate on the slave box though, is this possible?

1) Zapping is instant, just as when using an internal tuner.
2) EPG depends on the source. If the masterbox has EIT-EPG data, the EPG will be available on the slave box as well. If the master uses Open-TV (via Cross) there will be no EPG on the slave.

May I ask? I've just put my Wetek running openATV in the bedroom and installed remote channel stream. My technomate only has 1 feed coming in from the dish, does it still work? What state does the technomate have to be in if yes? Standby or just on, because at the moment it doesn't work. I can see all the channels, but when I select 1 I don't get any picture on the Wetek.
I know I'll only get channels on same transponder/polarity etc, but my aim is to use it when I've gone to bed.

What happens when you put technomate in standby mode with no timers set etc?

The same, nothing??
I just tried it again. Put technomate into standby, go to Wetek and select bbc1, nothing, blank screen with info bar, no info in info bar.
It's doing something to the technomate because the record symbol lights up in the vfd when I try to start a stream. I think I need a second feed. I'll borrow one of my Sky box and try again.

There should be no need for a second feed if the tuner isn't being used.
As the red light comes on on your TM, it suggests it's streaming ok.
Are you sure you have all settings correct on your box you're streaming to?
Can you stream to another device, laptop, phone... on the network?

Which TM do you have?
Which tuner input is the sat feed connected to?
What is the tuner without a sat feed configured as?
