How to restore or update your iPod/iPhone/iPad:

After downloading the desired firmware below, you can shift-click (PC) or option-click (Mac) the Restore or Update buttons in iTunes. A file dialog will open and let you choose the downloaded ipsw-file.

Note: Your browser may change the ipsw-file into a zip-file. In that case, just rename it to end in .ipsw and iTunes will accept it.

just jailbroke my iphone on io 4.3.1 wata complete ball ache, phone stopped loading new firmware half way though so had to restore and then update and then jailbreak, lost most of my damn apps bastardoz lol

Yeh i had that trouble too. Had to change the programmes compatibility to vista and run it as admin and then it flew through lol

I ended up having to restore it on a different laptop as my laptop stopped recognising the dam apple usb device lol worked perfect on a windows xp laptop and then jailbroke it back on my main win7 onr
