Hi, I have just upgraded my old GigaBlue HD Quad to a newer GigaBlue UHD 4K, I backed up my settings from the old box onto a pen drive and then when prompted restored the setting on the new box (wish I hadn't now).

I had the MGCamd 1.38c plugin installed on my old box and it seemed to install this correctly on the new one but it doesn't appear to be loading properly.

I have tried to uninstall it but it is not available in my installed plugins list (??). I have tried to install the latest version from the plugins panel (MGCams 1.38c (V4) which is there) but it comes up with several errors when I try to do this (if someone can tell me how to capture this error I will gladly upload it to this post)

just for completeness, I have also downloaded mgcamd138_1.38-r5.ipk from this site and if I install this it completes with the message "Done, installed, Upgraded, Removed 0 packages. with 0 errors". I have also re-flashed the box to factory settings and installed without restoring settings but it looks like a re-flash doesn't clear a lot of the settings.

Any Ideas?

1) Don‘t restore settings from another box ... there are settings set up in the build for many Arm boxes that will have been replaced by your settings restore...... and depending on the image may lead to crashes.
... and if you are seeing mgcamd in the download plugins this is also probably why .... its never in mine.
2) Delete the installed (?) softcam from /usr/softcam
3) Install Oscam its an Arm receiver not Mips!! That is what is meant to be used and is in the plugins - anything else is upto you if you can find the correct softcam for your Arm receiver

Hi twol, Happy to try that, just a quick question, will my CWS line work with OsCam? and if so, will I need to put the Newcamd list in a different location for it to work?

Be careful what you post on this forum.
............... No
Oscam is different

The softcam binaries are saved are replaced on a restore. As opposed to reinstalled. Hopefully the distinction replace and install can be appreciated.

Reinstallation during restore is from the plugin server. mgcamd is not on the plugin server for Arm receivers, so cannot be reinstalled.

Firstly, delete the binary from /usr/softcams that was placed there by the restore process.

You will have to download the ipk from this forum, transfer the ipk to receiver and then install it.

You can of course move on to oscam.

I would really like to get MGCamd going If I can, I am familiar with this and I know it has worked well up to now, it doesn't look like OsCam is straight forward at all.

HI, Just a quick response, all sorted now. I downloaded the latest Image and reinstalled the system, from that point on it was pretty straight forward, by not putting the setting on from my old box and just doing a full manual config (and downloading the MGcamd file as recommended by abu) it all just worked.

Thanks for your efforts :-)

Far safer to do this ..... and will be (hopefully) worth the effort.
