I've been on 5.3.014 with kodi 17.6
Having updated to to 5.3.023 and reinstalling plugins I find kodi is no longer there.
If I go to plugins and install kodi 18 it appears to be installing, but it is not there.
Any help please?

I would try installing 5.3.023 again and just restore your settings, but not the plugins. Then proceed to install Kodi 18.6 from the feeds.

Or delete Kodi 17, then do a backup (Blue button > ViX > Backup manager > Green button)

Then re-flash 5.3.023 and then you can restore your settings & plugins then go and install Kodi 18 from the feeds.

Thanks Andy, but I've tried that. Although kodi 18 seems to be installing, there is nothing there.
I was on 5.3.014 so I tried going back to that, and although I restore plugins kodi 17 is not there.

I can't delete kodi 17 it is not there, even after restoring plugins.
So I don't have kodi 17 or 18 now.
I don't know what to try next.

Well, I have been trying all afternoon to get kodi installed, without any success.
It seems to be installing, takes ages, but when it finishes it is not there.
If I then restart GUI the box crashes and the only way to get it back is to do a USB image install.
Is there a problem with kodi 18 on a solo2?
Has anyone there managed to install kodi 18 on a solo2 with Vix image?
Is there any way to get kodi 17 back?

I am not a Kodi expert, but often see issues updating Kodi.
So I would run a settings backup, flash online using ImageManager - restore settings NOT plugins and once rebooted install kodi 18 from the feeds
Many people move between the Kodi versions but often it takes a lot of experience.
Just go back to basics,

I have done that, but when I install kodi 18 from feeds it doesn't install, and if I go back into download feeds it is still there.

Another thought, maybe you need to delete the hidden .kodi folder on the HDD?

Start a telnet / putty / terminal

opkg remove enigma2-plugin-extensions-kodi

Then via an ftp client delete the folders

/usr/share/kodi
/usr/lib/enigma2/python/plugins/extensions/kodi
/usr/bin (any kodi ones)
/media/hdd/.kodi (need show force hidden files in FileZilla)
If not storage attached .kodi would be in /home/root/.kodi

Restart box

Then once booted back up

Telnet

opkg remove enigma2-plugin-extensions-kodi

That way can see if any errors, or alternatively just install again form
Plugin Feeds.

There was no kodi in usr/share, usr/lib/enigma2/python/plugins/extensions or usr/bin.
I had already deleted kodi on hdd.
The telnet command said "no packages removed"

I have tried to install kodi 18 quite a few times now without any success.

Just tried to install kodi 18 again. Seems to install, but still nothing there.
I took this screen shot of it loading it seems to stick here for quite a while.

I spoke too soon. Kodi is working, but NO sound.
I have been in the setting and everything seems to be set ok.
Any ideas please?

Honest Opinion.

Kodi 18.6 is very poor on Vu+ (now it plays internal), tested on Uno4k, so I imagine even worse on Solo2

Not comparable to the Hiliscon boxes.

However I changed the playerfactorycore.xml and advancedsettings.xml on my Uno4k so it just plays external again like all old versions, now plays fine and good the 1080 - 5.1 movies and lower encoded 4k titles.

Have you tried changing the e2 player itself via serviceapp then testing a title. or if in an addon, press menu on the title, play from......then choose GSTplayer mayb, see if any better.

I found kodi 17.6 worked good on my solo2. I wish it was still there in the plugins. I tried using GST player and video player, but still no sound.
