Telnetted into the box and issued the following command

init 4 && opkg update && opkg upgrade && init 6

box rebooted and now is stuck in boot mode which is very frustrating - shows "boot" on display.

can't access openwebif, etc anymore.

don't have a TV connected to the box so can't troubleshoot it that way.

can i troubleshoot it using terminal, if so what commands are useful.

can i restore it from a previous backup from terminal, if so what are the commands to do that.

thanks

to me it seems like the connection got dropped prematurely........

Just released 4.2.006 images. So if update fails again you could re-flash.

just initiated the upgrade command again via terminal as the same.....

Nothing works. The box I have a "boot" on the TV logo"Mut@nt". Remote control does not respond.

FTP:
Navigate to /etc/opkg
Delete piconsxyz-feed.conf

Command line:
rm -rf /etc/opkg/piconsxyz-feed.conf

Unfortunately Abu - ftp didnt work either.

I had to drive over to the house (which wasn't planned) and reflash the box using usb.

It's a shame that the software update capability isn't reliable - not sure where the issue is but rendering the box useless without a USB flash is not good.

I thought you were using telnet, which could have been used to delete the files as advised.

You can use Image Manager to flash. After the flash, restore your settings and plugins.

However, we'd rather the online update works fine. People's setups are different so not always easy to do. The only way to capture it is to upgrade by command line.

Some of the changes are not by us, but by fellow OE-A members.

BTW, I have Ocram's picon feeds on my receiver, works fine for me.

I was for most of yesterday & until 2pm today at which point I decided to drive up to the location where the receiver is and do a USB re-flash.

Good to know that this can be done via telnet too as a last resort (thanks Abu) point is that this really shouldn't happen with the stable feed option.

are these useful CLI commands documented anywhere?

If you're managing the box remotely, then lets hope it's been setup securely, otherwise updates will be the least of your problems.

Oh yes. Box sits behind a VPN and firewall

Pretty surprised at the lack of reliability when it comes to updates. Had loads of issues with my miracle micro and now this.
