[VU+ Duo2] New VU+ Duo2 - DVB-t/t2 scanning for terrestrial channels

Hi,

I've just received a VU+ duo2 box from WOS with 2 DVB-T/T2 tuners. I'm using the box for terrestrial freeview.

I have the antenna connected to tuner A, but I don't have a pass through cable yet to connect tuner B.

I've scanned for channels and can pick up either channels on the DVB-T or DVB-T2 system, but I can't seem to pick up both in one scan.

My local transmitter 'The Wrekin' wasn't in the terrestrial.xml file so I added it in, but this didn't make a difference.

Is it simply that a tuner cannot pick up both DVB-T and DVB-T2 channels? Do I need to have both tuners A and B connected, with one picking up DVB-T and the other picking up DVB-T2 ?

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question. I'm new to Linux and tuner setup.

Any help and advice on this would be much appreciated.

The T/T2 signal comes down the same aerial. If you have not got a loop through cable to the second tuner, set it as "nothing connected" for now. We imported some really poor code in my opinion. Different receivers are scanning differently.

I've run the T2 scan and attached the lamedb file to the thread.

Is there a way to get both the T and T2 channels in a scan?

This is a test entry I added to the terrestrial.xml file:

If I run a scan with type=complete and system=auto I can see both frequencies get scanned but only the T2 channels are found. This happens even though I have system="0" in the XML file for the second frequency "490......."

Or is there something I'm doing wrong?

We need to get to bottom of a merge we did some time ago which is causing the Enigma2 Terrestrial scanning issue. Unfortunately not many people have T2 signal/tuners so issue may take some time.

Please download this file and extract it. Transfer it to /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/AutoBouquetsMaker/providers
Go to AutoBouquetsMaker (ABM). Menu > Setup > Service Searching > AutoBouquetsMaker
In the providers, Enable Freeview UK and then select The Wrekin, (quicker to go left for you). Press green for OK and then scan within ABM. It should hopefully get you all the channels and make the bouquets.

Just as a quick update I played around with the entries in the terrestrial.xml file for the region I added. I found that when I removed the 'system' attribute from each of the transponder XML tags the scan picked up both the T and T2 channels. It now looks like I have all the expected channels.

I'll do some more checks and tests to see if playback and recordings etc are okay. I'm new to Vix so just starting to find my way around the functionality.

Even though it appears I've now got all the channels should I still continue with the steps you suggested for the AutoBouquetsMaker?

Did you manage to get ABM working with The Wrekin transmitter? I am considering getting a box that will do DTT in Linux. I currently don't have one - I do have a satellite equivalent but not DTT. In fact I did not even know there was such a box until yesterday!

What satellite equivalent? On a lot of STBs, when running OpenViX you just need to plug in a USB tuner for terrestrial.

I meant a Technomate TM Twin is a STB with DVB-S/S2 tuner. The one discussed here is a DVB-T/T2/C tuner in a STB running Vix - so that is what I meant by a DTT equivalent. Sorry if it confused anyone!

Sorry - by the above I meant - is DAB reception possible on the same equipment? The modulation is COFDM and not QPSK/8PSK etc and the SR is probably something like 1440. The spacing is 1712 kHz, (not MHz), between the centre frequencies. The gap between muxes is 3.1 kHz, making the maximum bandwidth of the carrier 1402 kHz (so SR will be about 1440 I think).

Can anyone help...

How do you add hidden channels from DVB-T muxes? I ask because apparently It4 is on D3&4, SID 2001, VPID 2001 APIDs 2002 and 2003.

However, if you do a full scan this does NOT show up in the list as there is no PMT.

How can I add this to my Xtrend ET8000? I am using Hades 018.
