[VU+ Solo2] No sound on USB DVB-T/T2 channels when switching from DVB-S/S2 channel

Hello,

Possible bug. Did full flash install (without settings restore) from latest stable Apollo build to Hades build 016. Since then updated to 018 (from software update, no reflash).

Hardware set up: Vu+ Solo 2 with Pctv 290e dvb-t2. Latest release (r4?) of emm28xx driver installed from feed as part of latest install (on 03/07/2015).

Satellites: Astra 1 and 2, and Irish terrestrial channels via Pctv 290e.

Problem: when switching from one of the satellites channels (any will do) to a terrestrial channel (they're all on the same bouquet - in case thsi is relevant), the picture tunes fine but there is no sound. Changing to another terrestrial channel "cures" the problem. So say, BBC1 (Sat) to RTE1 (Terr), no sound, but if changing next to RTE2 (Terr), then we have both sound and picture. The problem is that this bug affects all recordings (records picture fine, but with no sound).

Note that this problem is new to Hades. The latest version of Apollo did not exhibit this problem (but of course this could have been linked to a different version of the emm28xx driver rather than openvix itself).

The Solo2 has had the "no sound bug" in one form or another for a long time. Typical example is when using PIP. Only solution would be get Vu to supply drivers that sort this out.

I'm getting a similar problem - Hades 18 on a duo2, if the TV is turned off for a extended period of time (but the box has remained on) when turning the TV back on I get no sound (changing channels doesn't solve it), keeping the TV on, turning the box to standby and back on fixes it.

I'm on standard SAT connection (not the newer T2 ones)

My usb tuner is a sony PlayTV tuner, utilising the dib7000 driver, if I remember correctly.

So going by that the issue does not appear to be driver specific , considering Mr_D's has the same problem with a different tuner and driver combination.

Yes, as mentioned above the VU boxes have long standing sound/driver issues.

I had the same problem on my vusolo2 box with dvb-t channels. It started happening after upgrading to Hades.014(which included new vu+ drivers as I remember) problem remained with updates to 18. So downgraded back to Hades.013 and problem gone. Raised an issue to vu+ but as ive read not much chance of a response/fix.

Okay, I'll downgrade to Hades 0.13 to resolve the issue. Any major difference between 0.13 to 0.18 feature and stability wise ?

Seeing the same issue myself with my Duo2 running Hades 18 using a Sony PlayTV also. Will downgrade to 013.

I had other problems with USB tuners after the driver update, both my duo2 and solo2 now run hades 18 with the old drivers installed...

I downgraded to Hades 013 last night and the problem is gone. As you say, it must be new drivers (from Hades 014 onwards) that is causing the problem (on my Duo2).

I've only just come across this post and have had the same problem so keep going back to Hades 13. Does anybody know which folder stores the usb tuner drivers? Is it possible to copy them and overwrite them to a newer image? I am using a Nova-T Stick and always downloaded dvb-usb-dib0700 from plugins to make it work. Perhaps somebody has an older version of these drivers that we could try.

Just a thought.

firmware-dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20_1.0-r0_all.ipk contains:

/lib/firmware/dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw

and kernel-module-dvb-usb-dib0700_3.x.x-r0_inihdx.ipk contains:

/lib/modules/3.x.x/kernel/drivers/media/dvb/dvb-usb/dvb-usb-dib0700.ko

So they are part of the kernel - not part of Enigma2 per se. Unless the kernel has changed the drivers will be the same. And if the kernel has changed then the files from a different versions won't (or shouldn't) load.

There are new VU+ drivers that should fix a lot of the problems people where having with USB tuners since about July, try a fresh flash of 3.2 027 and see if it fixes your problem.

Just trying a fresh flash of 3.2 027 and when I go into plugins it is showing dvb-usb-dib700 (1.0-r8) so tried that and it seems to have done the trick and working fine again.
