Options for viewing with least wifi usage?

Hopefully I am in the right place to ask this.
I am based in Southern Ireland and have UK Sky - old HD not Sky Q so still have full recording services but the costs are increasing and the amount we watch is reducing.
I have a 1.2m dish with octo LNB.
I watch much more Youtube and some streamed movies on Amazon or Netflix via smart TV's. I have good Wifi service and therefore happy to continue streaming and use Free to view via Sky boxes but I will lose the recording options if I cancel Sky subscription. So I need to get a decent PVR to record satellite programmes (Freesat). We do not have a rooftop aerial.
This will save me £600 pa.
Looking at the box options I would want dual inputs to record multiple progammes but some are clearly better then others. Any advice for this?

Second issue is I spend time in France (I see there is a French section) and am paying a yearly fee for fibre broadband which clearly we cannot use most of the year. What options would I have to dump the fibre and install a dish and possibly SIM router to run the wifi and watch TV as at home. We only need wifi for a heat pump monitoring and TV when we are there. Satellite if it was DIY option would be preferred.

France - sat dish…..I assume you want to pick up 28.2E, so its question of where you are located in France and then size of dish - note some areas can have bad reception

Any Enigma2 receiver will record. If you are not doing anything to do with IPTV or downloaded media playback, you don't need a fast or powerful receiver. There will obviously be snappiness differences when scrolling through menus. Internet is not required apart from occasional software updates.

Have a look at sponsors site for receivers with two satellite tuners.

@freddyuk - what county are you in? Depending on location you may well need an external aerial to receive Saorview and therefore some form of combo receiver (DVB-T and DVB-S2). You might get away with an indoor aerial in the greater Dublin area. Saorview channels are not available in the clear from the regular Sky satellite without subscription. You may be satisfied with what you get from RTE player and Virgin Media player via broadband on your "smart" TV if you do not need access to live domestic channels all the time.

If you want a receiver for French TV, without subscription, you need to make sure it has a DVB-S2X tuner.

Have you got a budget for a receiver? That way we can probably give more helpful advice.

There is possibly another option for the member. Maybe the member could take a look at viark type satellite receiver along with a 4g or 5g dongle-router. This would allow the access to lets just say the better satellites channels for little data usage. I won't go any further as it may break forum rules.
