Having looked at the update history, (changes for technomate and VU+), as a ET9200 user are there any other benefits that would cause me to jump from my current very reliable VIX 2.4 image??

If your happy with your current setup then by all means stay where you are, there are many advantages to updating to the newer builds but it's a personal choice.
