On the official Sky box it is possible to rewind live tv. Is this something that can be done on Vix??

Yes, with an (ideally) HDD, go to Menu > Setup > System > Timeshift settings

I have following set:-

Automatically start timeshift after: 3 secs
Show warning when timeshift stopped: No
Timeshift save action..: Don't save
Stop timeshift while recording: No

Thanks m8 now got it working, and thanks to others who replied

I would have to disagree with you there Andy, I would put timeshift longer than 2 secs for the simple reason being that you get the occasional error cropping up regarding timeshift when changing channels that disappear when you set it for longer to kick in.

I've found that with my solo2 I can channel hop without any timeshift errors even on two seconds. The only time I have timeshift error is when rebooting

hi i have vu+ solo 2 running openvix apollo build 160
i have just installed the hdd trying to get the timeshift to work but it keeps telling me
"the directory /media/hdd/timeshift is not a ext2, ext3, ext4 or nfs partition. make sure you select a valid partition type"
any ideas?

Ive been using a Vu+ Solo2 for a few years and up until yesterday, I had been running the old OpenVix V3 build 808 without any issues for many months.

I decided to update yesterday to Apollo build 166 due to CrossEPG failing to download guide anymore, presumably because the server locations were no longer being updated.

The new build appears to be working ok apart from Permanent Timeshift.
Now when I press the < > buttons, only the current programme shifts, I can't scroll back to programmes from several hours ago!?

By the way, as I was jumping to a completely different build, I did flash the 166 image and re-configure from scratch, omitting to restore any settings!

Ok, fixed it, I deleted all the new and legacy files left in /media/hdd/timeshift/ and rebooted the box.
After leaving it on BBC 1 for a few hours, a refresh of the same folder showed incremented pts_lifebuffer files and sure enough, I was able to scroll back through programmes.
