Hi, will a unicable 2 lnb work on a sky uk mini dish? Will be getting the VU+Ultimo 4k and want to use the fbc tunner want to use 8 tunners.

yes it will
I have one on mine.

you may need to buy an adaptor to fit in to your dish though depending on what sky dish u have.

Not ideal though because the feed horn is a different shape on minidish LNBs.

Honestly, I have lost 0% signal (infact I might have even gained 1% on some transponders, based on the tuner info in the osd), when I swapped from a Zinwell Octo lnb (that came with the minidish), to an Inverto Unicable II lnb.

Not surprising really. The Unicable II LNB is a quality product. Also, what gets sent to the tuner is just the requested transponders so much less chance of interference.

But there is a physical mismatch between the shape of the dish and the shape of the feed.

Whilst what you are saying is correct, in the real world, it doesn't matter :)

Yeah, well the signal from that satellite is so strong in the UK you could just point the LNB at the sky and forget the dish. :roflmao:

Thanks for the replies really appreciate it. Also another question what satellite dish would be ideal for the unicable 2 lnb? (if i don’t use the sky mini dish)

I tried that first, as I couldn't be arsed to get the ladder out.

Didn't work

Hi guys.

I'm also planning on getting a Unicable set up to use with my ultimo 4k fbc satellite tuner.
I would also like to know whether it would work with my current dish and what is this adapter thing people are talking about.
I'll post a photo of my dish and see what you guys think.

Also what's the difference between Unicable 1 lnb and Unicable 2 lnb?
Thanks

A Mk 4 sky dish (anything newer than 4 years) will have a 38mm collar. Non-Sky LNBs including unicable have a 40mm collar. Search for 40mm MK4 LNB Adaptor Bracket. Item 352584179793 on ebay is one example.

Just bear in mind that the Sky dishes are eliptical, so their LNBs are squashed to make the most of them. There is a very marginal loss when you use a round LNB. Nothing to worry about, just to be aware of. So yes, you can use a Sky dish with a Unicable LNB.

Code:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/SKY-DISH-MK4-HOLDER-ADAPTER/dp/B00FX7QAPE

This is the type of adapter you require on a Sky/Freesat Mk4 dish - If you have a different Sky disk you need to establish what Mark number and get the appropriate adapter

Although out of stock at Amazon
Code:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/kenable-Adapter-MK1-MK3-Dishes-Clamp/dp/B007JIRDGK
Mk1.Mk2, Mk3 40m adapter.

The Mk4 dish will have a spirit level just in front of the LNB whereas the earlier ones don't - photo ... (note1 satcure no longer trade)

The number of channels - go for unicable II

See (post #2) in the following link

For reference only (note 2 old page so unicable not mentioned)

Unicable 1 LNB are usually sold with 4 SCR channels although technically cable of more.
Unicable 2/Jess LNBs are usually sold in 24/32 SCR channels although technically cable of more.

IMO, waste of money getting Unicable 1 LNB.

OK question is how do I know if I got an mk1/2/3 or mk4 dish?

Thanks Abu.
So if manage to get the right adapter and a Unicable 2 lnb. Is it a simple case of running the cable from the LNB straight into my fbc tuner.
If I domt bother with a splitter, how many channels would it allow me to record?

I already answered that question in your other thread. All 8 demodulators/tuners can be set. So you will be able to record almost anything you want on 28.2.

Oh right OK
Well I'm glad I can use my current dish. Only issue is the adapter I need is out if stock and i can't find it anywhere else. Also would the satellite cable plug into the top or bottom tuner or it does not matter?
So it should be a simple case of installing the dish and running one of my two existing cables.

Now to find the right Unicable 2 lnb. Anyone know any good ones where I don't have to use a splitter

I think that is a Mk 2/3 dish. But looks like you had an improvisation done on the holder. It is a Mk 4 LNB holder

I will try take some more close up pictures and hopefully with everyone expertise they can confirm which dish it is.
I don't know if this helps but my current values on my satellite tuner was around 100 percent snr and 71 percent acg
The values were the same with that dish I had previously so the new sky dish they installed has not affected my signal levels.
