thnks punisher: i have a n 8GB sandisk and a 16GB sandisk, both work on my dou, neither work on the solo's. any other suggestions chaps?

Have u tried formatting a usb stick in the duo, then transfer the vu solo files via ftp while in the duo, then try sticking that usb in solo and see if it flashes

i assume that i use my PC to delete the partition, stick it into the front of the Dou, initialise, mount then FTP?

Nope, no work. the files FTP and are visibile on filezilla in mnt, and media

Solo, doesnt even recogniose the USB stick, just boots up normally.

PS - USB recognised as ext4 r/w in VIX/mount manager. when i put the stick into the PC, it asks to format

how do i format to FAT32???

Yeh windows doesnt recognise ext4 thats why it asks u to format, but will be recognised on any linux system. Its strange how it isnt working, i just flashed mine again and worked perfect. Try doing the bootloader again first and the the image but transfer the files over via ftp to duo then plugin to solo. Id be completely stumped if u still have no luck

yep, tried again,
deleted partition using windows disk manager
push into front of Dou
initiliase using dou system/ harddrive
when i open VIX mount manager already shows as Size:991MB, Device:/dev/usdb1, Mount: media/usb, Type: ext4 R/W
restart the dou as a precaution
confirm mount by acessing VIX back up and media/usb is there
unzip new bootloader
FTP entire folder structure onto USB using FileZilla to dou/media/usb - unable to confirm if these are on the USB using the Dou [how can i do this?]
pull from front of Dou, stick into front of Solo
pull power from Solo, wait 30 secs, power on, aaand same again

red [1 second], orange [0.5 second] then solid green whilst the Solo boots up into original image. Does the bootloader wipe the previous image off or is it possible that the bootloader has updated and the previous image has loaded as default so I only need to upload the new image?

am is doing summit incorrect here?

Yeh the bootloader wont change the imGe that u have on there, it will bootup with the image u have on there. So then all u need to do is flash the image.

so last question. if the bootloader isnt updated and i try flashing the new image, will it brick the Solo?

edit: nope, nothing happens when new image is added to stick, same process as bootloader, just boots into existing image, green light flashed once then stays solid, USB led stays on permanently

will the image backup option wihtin VIX allow me to flash the bootloader?

right got one doine, had to format stick to FAt, not FAt32

hi i have vu+ solo with 2.3 build 133 on kernel 2.6.18 can i flash the latest build from the USB File for flashing a clean build of 204 will this auto update bootloader or do i need to flash this first

No you must flash the bootloader first before the image otherwise you could damage the receiver.

Just got my brand new vu solo (original) today was working well till ive updated latest kernal now nothing respondong hope this easy fix or does box need replacing

moved to the correct section as you had posted in the Duo thread.

ok now did you update the bootloader first ? as you must first flash the new bootloader ( download from post 1 of this thread ) then and only then you can flash a image with the new kernel.

Hello pheonix i installed bootloader first then wiped usb clean then installed lastest vix image 2.3 i get to the stage where asks you to choose HDMI or SCART but nothing responding from remote control ive tested remote on another box works ok dont know what to do now

Read page 70 & 71 of the Uno manual here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?9578-Vu-Uno-Manual VU+ are sending out the Universal Uno remotes and on current batch have forgotten to insert instructions about how to change the remote code.
