[ET9x00] New VIX Image ET 9x00 Series Version 2.4 15/05/2012 - DISCUSSION ONLY -

Well, if you encounter sync-problems, that's the place to be. Or start with those values all set to zero, and see if the general delay (in A/V-settings) will do the trick.

Be aware that audio-syncproblems can originate from two sources:
1- (some) channels can have a sync-problem. If so, the correction values are likely to be different for all those channels;
2- depending on the TV and the resolution-settings of the box, it is possible that the TV-picture is 'behind' audio, due to all the hard work that has to be done by the TV. If this is the case, the out-of-sync value is likely to be the same for all channels (or at least for channels that do not suffer from point 1).

Thanks, I set all the values to 00000. And the problem is nearly gone. Maybe not perfect. Is this some sort of auto correction? I have never changed this values that I just set to 00000.

Good to see that it's sorted. Just 'fine-tune' those stations that still are out of sync, or all if that's the case. Often a value of 20-40 ms will do.
And no: there's no auto-correction whatsoever: the box has no idea how fast your TV does his job.

evenin all.

been using the new 2.4 since release, no issues thus far. nice one

altho today i added an external 2TB raid esata drive to accompany the internal 500gb. the image detects everyhting no probs (recognizes both as internal hdds) and i mounted it to /media/hdd2. so 500gb is on /media/hdd and 2tb on /media/hdd2
only thing ive run into is that it doenst put the external esata hdd to sleep like it does with the internal hdd. is there something else i must configure or does the image not support this or something?

as u can imagine i dont want the esata raid hdd to be running all the time. any input/help appreciated.

Sleep functions of external drives (both USB & eSATA) depend fully on the hard-and firmware of the chipset in the housing & the drive itself. That's one of the problems with external drives, and decent info about that (before buying one) is seldom (if ever) available.

after some further testing, it does appear it does go into standby, its just it doenst turn the light off on the drive to indicate that. so i assumed it wasnt going into standby. which it did on the htpc which i took it off.

the hdd spins back up after i access it after a while. so it must have gone to sleep.

OK, good to hear that. Also when going to standby the HDD only goes asleep after the in the menu set time has passed.

yup i noticed those settings, but wasnt sure if it was applying it to all internal hdds or just the main one. anyhoo everyhting "seems" fine atm. :)

Thanks for the new image, I've had a lot less crashes/lock-ups on 2.4

When viewing Timers/Auto Timers(Green Button) is it possible to view info, or series/episode of programs set to record? On any other menu/view?

Thanks

Changing oscam version

Hi, and first of all thanks to all developers for this nice image.

The default oscam (5953) is working ok, but I want to change to a newer version.
I have tried two versions so far (6970 and 6994)
No problems with the exchange. I restart oscam and it works ok until I start the box from deep standby.
Then oscam is not activated, and I'm not able to get it activated.

I rename the new oscam to default name (oscam.5953) and make chmod 755.
I have done online update to 2.4-135.

I used VIX 2.3 before, and had no problems with changing oscam version.

There's no need to rename it.
Have you placed it in /usr/softcams/ & enabled autostart in softcam manager?

Yes I placed it in /usr/softcams/

What do you mean with enable autostart?
I have ticked oscam in softcam manager, and restarted with green button.
But oscam does not appear as active.

With default oscam, no problem to start from deep standby.

Does it work when you restart it with the green button?
If so, blue button will enable startup when the box boots.

Hi there ...

just a little question ... i did now an online update ... but on the info-page
there has nothing changes ...

driver 2012-03-31
version 2.4
build 135
last update 2012-05-25 19:08

but isn't there a newer version with newer driver?
i think i saw build 145 or 147 ? before the online-update,
what happend ?

Thanks for help ... and you great work ;) No.Trace

The latest build on the server is 2.4-143, now if you look at the ViX assembla pages you will see that the latest build andy has made is currently 146 along with what ever changes he has made etc. The drivers you are talking about are for a different receiver.

now although we are releasing essentially beta images via the OpenViX server andy does still exorcise a certain level of quality control, meaning he wont just release a build unless he is happy it at least boots etc.

obviously there is more to it than that but i'm just summarising.

Ok, I'll explain again what happens.
With default oscam (5953) everything works fine. Oscam autostarts after a deep standby.
After installing a new version of oscam, I go to softcam manager and enable oscam.
Oscam is now ticked.
Then I press green button to start oscam, but it does not start.
On the top row (active) in softcam manager, the name "oscam" does not appear.

In that case, i'd guess you don't have the correct file.
What version are you trying & where did you get it?

I have used this version
oscam-svn6994-mips-tuxbox-webif-Distribution.tar.gz

and also tried svn6970

Downloaded from here
Code:
http://download.oscam.to/index.php?&direction=0&order=mod&directory=mips-tuxbox

OK, just tried that version & it won't start for me either.
However the stable version on the above link does work.
