Hi.

Can anyone please help with network sharing?

I am trying to share my network so i can access my pc via my vu+ duo. I can access webif through the pc's in my home and play files and watch tv but i want to use it the other way around too.

I have followed this guide but i cant get any further with it.

http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?15974-How-To-Setting-up-Windows-Network-Share

I can see my pc in browse network but i cant see any files.

is there any other way to try and view my files in vu+ duo?

any help would be great.

thanks.

use fire fox

type in the address field

ftp://ipaddress of unit

press return

login root

password whatever it is ( possibly blank )

Yes i can ftp files to my receiver and i can view channels from my receiver through webif on my pc. i just cant work out how to view the folders from my pc on my receiver.

I have just noticed that i cant see my vu+ duo on my pc where it shows all the devices on my network. i am sure it used to shown in here..

should it be vissible in here?

yes, just click on it, it should show the files

you have enabled Samba ? menu>setup>system>network>samba

yes i have it enabled.

i have got further now.

i used the username of my adminstrator account for my pc and now it has removed the red x from the drive in mount viewer.

i cant see anything when i try to open the pc icon in browse network but i can now see the folder in mediaplayer.

i only set up a folder in my c: drive for a test.... i would now like to get it to point to a movie folder in my d: drive but cant work out the correct way to put the path in the settings.

any help to do this would be great.

cheers.

you must make sure the movie folder on the pc is shared with everyone first, then in the receiver mount setup change the server share to /whateveryourmoviefolder path is.
If you followed the guide to setup your test folder just edit that mountpoint's server share to point to your movie folder
