Ok mate thanks ,
will start a new thread.

the time it takes to zap on to a channel is way to long. how do i reduce the delay in entering the channel number and for it to zap.

make sure you dont have picons set to the HDD

no its not when changing channels. its when i enter it myself. eg. i want to go to channel 5 i type 105 and then have to wait a couple seconds until it zaps. my picons are on usb drive.

The zap to has been increased to 5 seconds in recent builds, once you hit the channel number you want, press OK & it's pretty instant.

Is there some way I could reduce this by editing some file lol?

Not unless you want to jump into editing & compiling core files that will be over written on an image update?
I'm not a fan of the 5 second timeout either, but learning to press ok after hitting the channel number you want is a great pay off for the added functionality it gives to other users.

I just wondered why it had been increased. I know obviously it wouldn't have been increased just for the sake of it.I'm just trying to learn as much as I can about all aspects of these boxes and their software.

namely a member complained that the timeout was too short for his elderly relatives and they took multiple attempts to hit the channel they wanted as a result.

Why not add an option in customise to suit the needs of all on the zapping speed? just a suggestion before folk go biting ones head off lol

We do our best not to bite anyone's head off here & all suggestions are welcome...
I'd also like this option, if Andy sees merit in adding it, i'm sure it will be done at some stage.
For now, it's a hard coded value though & as Rob suggests, we are overrun with options...

lol thats actually a good point forgot how crowded it already is lol

So one person complained and now everybody has to have an increased timeout without an option to change it. Wow.
