Okay, so i upgraded from 2.4 to the latest 3.xx yesterday, for this very reason - because cross EPG had stopped automatically downloading the EPG every night.

In terms of configuration, these are the things i did after a fresh install of VIX:
- set the location of the epg to download to the hdd/media
- ticked the open TV 28.2 for s**
- under cross epg settings, enabled scheduled download.

the box doesnt do anything. If its on and im watching tv, it doesnt initiate any epg download.
If i put the box on standby, it doesnt initiate anything either.

what else am i doing thats wrong? what have i missed?

press the blue button and manual download, u only have to download once a week

If you're using a channel list which doesn't have the EPG background audio channel (11778V 27500 2/3), it won't be able to find the EPG datastream used for OpenTV listings on 28E...

I found this when using vhannibals multisat lists...

i can download manually with no issue.
I want it to do it automatically.
Anyone else can help? i think it is actually working, i just checked today and the EPG has gone to the last hour of Thursday next week, so it must be working.
Doesn't matter.

Nope, its not working, i was mistaken. Just checked today and it did not download the epg at 5am like i set it to.
Its works fine if i do it manually.

Why won't it download automatically at the scheduled time????

Look in the log file to see if there are any errors - should be in a folder called crossepg which should be in the same folder that you store the epg.dat file. Logfile is called crossepg.log.
Have found that any time, mine has not run was due to a network error - if broadband goes off, or I reboot my modem, I sometimes have to refresh my connection on my stb.
One thing you could try is change the time to a time so that you can watch what happens on your tv!

are you using a swap file? it may be your running out of memory.

the log reveals that it has not even attempted to download on the scheduled time. The last entry is from when i manually downloaded.

dont know what a swap file is. Under EPG location ive set it to media/hdd. EDIT - the swap file is inactive under swap manager.
apart from that, all the other settings are

okay well. It works. I changed my settings to these, set a test time, and it works:

Just to add my 2p's worth to this thread

CG121 seems to have nailed it here, I have been having all manner of problems across all my boxes and it seems that because I have been using pre-built channel lists then cross epg downloader just hangs as it can't find the stream. I manual channel scan of 28E has now solved all my problems.

regards GM

Well I haven't clue what CG121 means. I will hiohaa's. I did a manual download and log file gives "Cannot open import directory '/media/hdd/crossepg/import"

I changed config according to hiohaa and set it to autodownload at 12.00 and seemed to work. Log gives
