Picture degraded

I purchased my Vu Duo from this site 3 months ago, everything was working great til about 3 weeks ago. The picture started to degrade. At first it wasnt that noticable, but its gotten gradually worse each day. Now it looks like a posterized picture, if you know the effect, really grainy with lots of greens and reds. Ive reflashed with the latest Vix image,769 I think, and cleared all the settings but to no avail.I've tried the box on a different TV and with different leads,scart and HDMI but the problem persists. Any ideas on what the trouble is, and if its a hardware issue is my box under warranty.

The box would normally come with a 12 month warranty. Have you tried a new/different HDMI cable?

Also when you've reflashed and you get the blue ViX screen on setup, does that picture look ok?

Yup, tried all that,even a scart,different TV. No change. The wifes gettin cross.

The Vix set up picture looks grainy too, but the menus look fine

789 is the latest build. Can you try it with that one? Do a backup then reflash using usb then restore from backup?

I originally flashed over wifi with 789 with no results,but when I flashed with the USB stick the picture was perfect for all of 2 minutes. As i type this the picture has gone back to its degraded state.

Really need to know how you set up your av settings as some changes have been made lately that may reflect in the reason why your picture looks bad. Also to discount tv problem can you check the stb on another tv set?

I've tried another TV, cables etc. Its the same picture with a scart aswell. The A/V settings have never been adjusted from when I got the duo, everythings default. I've fiddled with all the settings but nothing changes the dreadful picture.I also have a dreambox running in another room so the signal is fine.As I said when I flashed it today with 789 it was fine for a few minutes then it did its impression of an Andy Warhol painting. I appreciate the help.

Looks like you need to replace the famous capacitor.
And better not use the box until you did that, to prevent collateral damage.

If as you say the receiver is only a few months old contact the supplier ( the forum sponsor ) for repair.

Last night when I was going to bed the picture returned to its perfect state, so I shut down the Duo. Alas today when I started it up all I got was the red light,but it has been doing that from time to time. So I restarted it with the rocker switch and when it came on the picture was degraded again. I'll try and post a picture later. The effect is if you use your smartphone camera theres usually a special effect called 'posterize' this is identical to my picture. With the picture coming and going it must be a hardware issue. I'm going to contact the supplier tomorrow.

I did warn you:

Please do not switch on the box; you're looking for more damage.

Try and provide the photo of the inside of the receiver as asked for too please. This will help us help you.

I'll try and do this later,busy with a young family, Sunday lunch etc. Hope it wont affect my warranty.

No removing the lid wont affect the warranty as it's meant to be removed to fit the HDD etc.
