[VU+ Solo] Is someone trying to access my box

I have a strange problem with my box for the last 2 days.

On my previous build (808) i was getting a message of no free tuner and therefore unable to change my channels.

We also noticed that sometimes while watching a channel the channel would randomly change to another completely different channel and then maybe another.

Thsi was independent of whether we were watching a live channel or a recording.

I thought therefore that the software had maybe corrupted and also realised that I hadnt changed the default password on the box since I satrted using it.

So i changed the default password and flashed the latest Zeus image from a usb stick with no settings.

Image seemed to be working fine and then all of a sudden again today while watching a live channel the box has switched to a few random channels like sky sports 1, mutv. And then I was also getting a no free tuner option. In some bouquets the channels looked like they were available to watch but on other bouquets all the channels are greyed out.

Does this sound like someone is trying to access my box.??

What can I do? I have a Dyndns set up so that I can use VU+ Player, should i disable this? and disable the webserver?

My network is secured with a password.

Please help this is both worrying and frustrating. I have disconnected my network cable for the moment

Thanks

Bart

Try disabling he dyndns and web server and monitor it for a few days to see if any changes

If so when look at each one from their to find a leak

Never heard of that happening before to be honest

Vu+ Solo2 ,

It certainly sounds like some one may have gained access to your receiver and forwarding ports is the easiest way to open up your network to outside intrusion.

How do I disable the webserver
As for the dyndns should I just log into it and stop it or just stop the port forwarding

Vu+ Solo2 ,

There have been numerous instances where users have had their receivers accessed by others by forwarding ports, there are a few threads on the forum detailing just this kind of thing.

I have deleted all the forwarded ports. I howb do I disable the Web server pls

If it doesn't happen with the network cable out you can safely assume someone has access, I would also change the router password and the box password for something complex including a mix of upper and lower case with a couple of numbers thrown in, I would also run a good malware and virus scanner on the PC

Thanks guys for the really quick and excellent responses. I have changed the box password but will change the router one as well. Appreciate the help

thanks guys changed those passwords as well now

really appreaciate the help

is there any other ways to secure the network?
and should i just forget about using the port forwarding to the VU app?

I came across a chinese network search engine a while back. If you typed dreambox into it a large number of receiver ip addresses were obtained. Quite a few had no password or else a default password. There is a lot of network sniffing going on so it is imperative that passwords are set.

I've turned all my port forwarding, web http interface and DNS off, and changed box password. Not worth it really. Reckon that's how I ended up with the virus on it.

See I've got a very complex password on my box, but apparently according to a user, they can get into the streaming port by having the right channel id.

Also I've been port forwarding my nas box and CCTV for years and I've never ever had a problem. Could there be a security hole somewhere?

I have been having the same issues with my Duo2 over the last week I was also running Vix 3 808 build and have now updated to the latest Zeus build 5 it was fine for a day or so after the update but started to randomly change channel and record things again. I did have port forwarding to my box but after reading this thread I have removed them from my router. I am now looking into setting up a VPN server using my Synology NAS as a more secure method of remote access for my network.

Edit

Forgot to mention that I also have a normal Duo and a Uno on my network and have had no issues with these.

I'm thinking of doing the same, creating a vpn server. Just end to research on how to do it.

The security hole is in having ports open on your network.

Like I said, been port forwarding many items on my network without an issue. Only this box seems to get accessed to.

Hi Guys, Reading this while watching tv when the adverts came on then a X Box One green screen flashed in between the adverts, any ideas please ?.
