[VU+ Duo] Browsing through channel list = Random Crash

Hi everyone!

I recently did an online update from apollo build 90 to build 97. Everything was working ok till all of a sudden the box crashed. I was going to change the channel, so I clicked the arrow down button, and I started to browse some channels, I kept clicking the arrow down button to scroll down and the box got stuck and rebooted.

Can someone please check the log file attached and tell me what went wrong please?

Second problem, Ive noticed that the EPG is very slow at carrying out commands. e.g: If I press the arrow right key a couple of times, it takes a while for the box to respond. There used to be a delay before but I feel that the delay is longer all of a sudden? Has anyone else noticed this?

You will do good to set up a swap file and see how you go.
If this issue still pops up, you should use the cacheflush plugin.

Hi I had exactly the thing happen last night on my Duo 2. I found out when ftp'in to the box that in my channel list (etc/enigma2/) I had some alternatives (in my case it was Cbeebies HD), which I deleted and also deleted my Favourite List. Then after a reboot. I ftp'd my Fav list back (from a local copy on my laptop)
And all has worked.


Dont know about your epg issue though.

Thankyou for your quick reply. I currently do have a swap file (set to the maximum mb's) activated and I also have the cacheflush plugin activated. Is there anything else I could do?

Thanks for the reply. I don't have my own channel list. I have it automatically updating via ABM.
Should I delete my whole channel list and let it re-populate? At the moment it's working ok. It just happened randomly, which is the strange bit.

I had problem on my solo2 after online upgrade from 090 to 097. Whilst scrolling through the EPG fast (ie repeatedly pressing channel + or - button) it then crashed.

I did a fresh flash to 097 without settings restore and it never crashed after that. I can't say if that was reason for the crash or it was just a one-off.

I have gone back to 090 due to sluggish EPG problems only, and weirdly, effecting VU's so can't check anymore.

Nope, sorry. Your log shows a segfault (driver issue) that can often be overcome by using SWAP + cacheflush. Nothing else wil help AFAIK.

Thanks for that. I didn't think there would be 098 as you're upgrading OE-A from 2.3 to 2.4 I read but I see you have released a 098.

A little off-topic but do you know if sluggish response for displaying EPG (sometimes) and/or scrolling through the EPG page-by-page (ie when it moves from one page to the next) been solved in 098 build? It appeared to only affect VU's and was present in 096 (when HD image and normal image were merged).

EPG Lag still there, also there is another issue with VU preventing 2.4 from being published. so 2.3 will continue for the time being.

on my vu+ duo2 lack seems a bit better with apollo 98.Not quite allright but better.

Is that on new 098? What about on your Solo2 as you said on an earlier build it was slow like us other VU users?

This is why I'm not sure if I should reflash without a settings restore. I think it may have been because of the big jump I made from 90 to 97, but not sure.

Yeah the epg is a weird one, now I can see that many have the same problem.

I'm not using the hd skin mate, just the standard one and the lag is present (build 97)

I will online uodate to build 98 and see if the epg scrolling has improved. Thanks for everyone's feedback , at least I know it's not just me
