[VU+ Duo2] duo2 updates query

guys my first time updating my duo2 as its only 2 weeks old, anyway is it safe to run the software updates via the menu or do you have to do a clean flash each time there's an update

tried to update to 18 but everytime it fails on the do not turn off screen box is updating, it just hangs even after 10-15 mins

something im not doing possibly or i it just flash from usb only ?

also wll the backup it runs store all user customised settings?

Hi it should update fine from the menu so not sure whats wrong something sounds corrupt so i would use a usb and do a complete fresh install and after that updates should be fine from menu system.

Back ups keep all user settings, bouquets, plugins ,Timers ect so you dont lose a thing but if your backup is made after somethings been messed about with and corrupted like your initial problem then it will mess up the fresh USB install too.

You can always just ftp your timer files and bouquets ect over seperatly to your pc then transfer them back after fresh install

hmm just realised i'm having the same problem when running the latest update 3.2.004 even when im on a clean install of 3.2.003 with no settings restored from previous hades image

as soon as i update the update starts get vix spinning for approx 1 sec and message saying , please wait while update in progress blah blah blah vix logo dissapears and screen then stays with the please wait blah blah msg

UPDATE ....... what i have noticed is the box then seems to ddos my network but as far as im aware my mgcfg is fine (used the one from here suggested many a time and attached from my box ) and i never have any other issues with that at any other time ?

its more than likely something i'm not doing correctly then , anything i should check ?

I think the ddos problem is due to your mgcfg file - see line L

# Log option, summ of:
# 00 off
# 01 network udp log
# 02 log to console
# 04 file, appended ! delete it by yourself, before it eat all your hdd
# + IP udp-port log-file-name
L: { 03 } 172.16.1.1 28007 /tmp/mgcamd.log


CHANGE TO

# Log option, summ of:
# 00 off
# 01 network udp log
# 02 log to console
# 04 file, appended ! delete it by yourself, before it eat all your hdd
# + IP udp-port log-file-name

thanks Willmoore , your correct , some how when i ran a fresh install i must have grabbed another mgcfg from here and missed the change on line L

all sorted and updated to 3.2.004
