[VU+ Duo2] hades dead?

Hi,
You can always save your channel datat before flashing and then restoring it afterwards.
if these are files/directories on the box even that is not necessary. Go into the backup manager, press menu and then yellow there you can add custom files/folders to the backup which will then also be restored.

ciao

The /etc/enigma2/ location is contained as standard in the backup manager as well as most of the other files mentioned already.

Maybe a discussion to be had on Dev side?

As mentioned by @Abu, this location is included already.

The problem rises when advised not to do a backup/restore via menu when changing between major changes (ie image name changes) due to OE-A core changes. I can understand reason for this especially after major core changes.

How about a "lite backup" option that just backs up timer.xml, autotimer.xml and settings file to usb/hdd and can be restored again after doing a usb flash. I'm assuming nothing is likely to happen just backing-up/restoring these three files when there has been a major oe-a core change?

Some people are so ungrateful, perhaps VIX should start charging a small annual fee for their great service!!

My personal opinion? Vix Team is great.....fifteen minutes and go ..... nonsense !!! never mind and good work

A relatively new user and so far I can't fault any aspect of Vix and how it is managed. Just sorry I didn't discover it before now. May not always get responses to my queries on the forum but that hasn't changed how I feel overall. Keep up the good work guys.

oops sorry guys opened a wasp nest there with re-flash comment it was meant as a joke!(as thread started) It is up to use after all what we do with your new updates after all. if you never have a few problems like plugins now working you never learn anything which makes it it hobby after all not just trying to watch free stuff!
keep up the good work
thanks.

You're free to Donate anytime to show your gratitude. You haven't done so yet I see :D

To me.. Its very simple..

This way works best for evereyone..

If you dont like updating.. then no one is ordering you to do it..

But for those of us who like the updates.. then they are there for everyone..

This is the only way everyone can be kept happy..

I totally agree. As somebody said, at the end of the day, it's just a hobby. Updating and checking out new features is what helps makes this hobby fun for me.

If I didn't enjoy the hobby and just wanted to watch Television, I'd go and buy a standard satellite receiver from one of the big manufacturers that comes with their own proprietary locked firmware.

l have nothing but praise for the VIX team who make this hobby such fun for us all.

I was considering to suggest a name for next image. It's a beatiful name in italian: Iside. It's the god of fertility and very evocative name in my opinion.
But I just see that Iside in english is: Isis which is a so bad name currently!!

Why not shift to Egyptian Gods..... Isis, Osiris... you could really please any SG-1 fans!

Could not agree more, but alas the team have gone down the boring route and ditched names in favor for a numerical system lie every one else and to tie in with the GIT so ViX 3.2 etc etc.

YAWN in my opinion.

Yay - that is excellent news.

It may seem boring but it never seemed logical to me to have all these different image names - and actually they sounded a bit hokey to my mind.

Much easier to keep track of previous versions with a build and image number - and no time wasted head-scratching for new names )

VIX is a wonderfully friendly image so call a spade a spade - simply VIX.

At the end of the day, and whatever it is called - thank you guys for all the hard work you put in - much appreciated.

Yes. But also the naming of every new image is part of the fun IMHO.
