Cannot understand how to control the SUBTITLE function in the VU+ Solo2

I'm mystified about how this is controlled on the VU+ Solo2. All other PVRs here automatically record the subtitles but can display them on demand or not as required.

It seems either they are always on or always off with VU+ recordings. That would not be such a problem if the subtitles were in synch with the speech, but that is not the case in many broadcasts so they can be very distracting. I should be able to record a file which is not displaying subtitles but then have the option of later seeing the subtitles on file play if I want them.

I've downloaded and installed this firmware from here
BlackHole-2.1.7-vusolo2_usb_release_20150707_c6f93e5.zip - ZIP archive, unpacked size 162,628,697 bytes

But the above subtitle behaviour also exhibited itself on the previous firmware.

So, is there a setting somewhere to have the VU+ behave as other PVRs do?

TIA

PS: Being a "junior" member is amusing as I turn 80 in a few weeks time!!

Subtitles work fine in ViX. Sync is down to broadcaster. To turn on/off just press the subtitles button and then ok.

When i first set up I had to change the option in Menu - Setup - System - Subtitles settings - "Subtitle delay when timing lacks" (or maybe "when timing is bad" I can't remember) to "No Delay"
Otherwise the subtitles seems to be a few seconds behind.

Thanks Huevos - you gave me the clue. I've now installed VIX and can control the subtitles. It is not quite as convenient as on the other PVRs where you can cut the subtitles in or out of a recorded file at will while it is playing. With the VU+ here at the moment I must invoke subtitles before play - they then do appear but have to stop play again to turn them off - at least that is how it is happening here unless I'm still missing a setting.

At aged near 80, my hearing is failing so, sadly, subtitles are becoming a necessity.

Use the same 2 button press to turn them off.
