have to keep pressing crossepg to fill in my EPG - why isnt it automatically doing it

if your are loading your epg on to a hd, then try loading it onto a usb stick, and see how it goes, i have mine's on a usb stick with no probs at all, so there could be an issue with your hd ??

Sometimes the HDD goes into sleep mode and that is why it doesnt detect epg data

I have no such issues on any of my boxes, all installed with HDD's.

Actually thats incorrect, EPG data is held in the cache or ram and not written to or read from the HDD / USB stick except for bootup or shutdown. The HDD going to sleep would not affect the EPG what so ever.

BH, downloads OpenTV EPG from the current transponder, which usually means just a few hours of data. The only transponder with complete data is the home transponder. So unless you use this transponder to pull from your data will always be incomplete.

Why dont you just configure the EPG download to happen automatically? Setup-System-EPG Select the one you use - eg Cross EPG Select configure and opt to bring it down when it suits you! Usually I go for once a day but know I wont have unit powered up everyday so it plays catch up. Only ever need to press the manual update button after a rebuild.

Arnie, we all run OpenViX here. Some of us have other PLi and OE-A based images loaded too for test purposes, but not BH or VTi. If you want help getting an image set up and working well you really need to switch to OpenViX. EPG works brilliant and mine is always fully populated. And most other stuff works really well too instead of the gaping holes found in other images.

I had Black Hole on my box and im only two days into a VIX image and boy am I glad I made the switch. Honestly it is so much better and its funny to see the complaint about the EPG I had the same issue also.

I also couldnt record and watch another channel with black hole, the picons wouldnt load, the pause would screw up so bad that it would reboot the box sometimes. I mean I respect the people who took the time to build that but I find VIX a pleasure honestly make the switch.

Don't worry, ViX has it's issues too...
In fairness your issues sound like set-up/user issues?
Saying that, enjoy ViX. The best E2 image IMO.
