One thing I found after I stepped down from ViX was that always using the latest and greatest image was wayyyyy overrated. When I left the team I didn't bother to flash any of my receivers for well over 9 months and they never suffered for it.
As long as you backup all the plugins and drivers you need while the feeds are up and keep regular full image backups of your working system you should be fine. My brother got a Duo from me approx 2 years ago and its never been updated in all that time and it still works perfectly. I update ABM once in a blue moon and thats about it.
The Ultimo on the other hand was once a beast of a machine but its getting long in the tooth now just look at the specs sheet for it compared to other boxes here

It's had a hell of a good run considering it was officially discontinued from the manufacturer three years ago.
Dont get me wrong I am not knocking the Ultimo. My own is a true work horse, on from 04:00 to 23:00 every single day and never ever turned off except for standby which it self just kills the video and audio feeds. At some point your just going to have to accept that pilling more and more onto a aging system like this is just going to trip it up and cause no end of problems.
I use mine daily and I can clearly see its not the same machine when used with the newest images and I said as much to the team about a year ago but was basically told I was talking shite.
