Hi Team

I am having an issue downloading the plugin list (Menu > Plugins > Green button to download plugins). My WLAN connection is fine currently as I can browse the box via Open Webif.

The error that comes up instantly is
cantinstallplugins.jpg

This download plugin list was working a few mins previously as I was trying to download mgcamd138 within softcams but I got an error during install which when I looked for a solution via searching the forums told me to remove files from the lists folder (which I did) and rebooted the box:

is your router giving your box internet access?
even if it wasn't you would still be able to access webif as it will be on your home network.

check internet access is being allowed to your box from the router or try rebooting your router and restart the network on your box.

According to this test yes it is and I have done both reboots already.

What box have you got?

I did enter this information when creating the thread why does it not show this? Anyhow below is the box info

That test shows its connected to the router and has an IP address.
It doesnt show its granted internet access.

Have you tried disabling wifi to see if there is a wifi/wlan conflict going on? Or vice versa.

Can you explain what you mean by granted access? Where then can I see/prove this to be sure it has access?

For example CrossEPG downloader works just fine, the internet surely would then be working for this to complete fine I would have thought?

I am not sure the status of the LAN connection, I could see no option to disable it so I am not sure but here is what it shows on my box:

If crossepg is downloading then i would say your internet is working.
What i was trying to point out is that your box will still show connected to the router with an IP address and gateway (thats why you can access the webif) but not necessarily have access to the internet.....for reasons like your provider is down or the router is blocking access to the inet.

But as crossepg is downloading this doesnt seem the case.
Can you disable the wifi on the solo? Just have it run on wlan? But again if crossepg is working then it should be ok.

Ah ok gotcha :D

I put the files back that a previous solution on here said to remove from var/lib/opkg/lists (to solve the opkg_lock error as described in OP with screenshot of error) and not only can I download the plugin list again but I managed to finally get the package I wanted installed.

So not sure why those exact files were so important, but I had five files which I backed up before removal (namely openvix-vusolo2_3rdparty, openvix-mips32el, openvix-vusolo2, openvix-all, openvix-3rdparty)

I removed those as per the solution and rebooted. The box created four files upon restart, so maybe the fifth file it did not recreate after reboot needed to be there.

Still feel there is an underlying issue with my internet / official VU solo wifi dongle, I noticed when monitoring my connected devices on the router that the IP address of the box was disappearing and reappearing. No other connected device has that, WLAN may be the only way to go to solve that however which I do not want to do as the dongle was bought with the box (from this very site) as the router needs to be upstairs.

Crossepg does not use internet for opentv providers (which is usually used for sky 28e) so that would not be an indicator that the internet was working or not. The internet access was working all along in any case.

You have diagnosed your own problem there, WLAN it works, it doesn't work...
But.. the pic you attached in your first post happens to me a lot even on wired boxes, a reboot solves it, frustrating i know but not as frustrating as that WiFi malarky, jeez.

Just to add my router (s) are upstairs, wifi downstairs is generally alright in my house for laptops, tablets, phones etc, but not for HD streaming, in the one downstairs room where i don't have wired access i use HomePlugs, and not them crappy AV500's either, use Zyxel AV2000 dual ports, they are the dogs.......

Yeah it can be frustrating but then I think it is amazing that all this works in the first place (when it works which is usually 99% of the time) so cannot complain haha

I will look into those thanks
