There's something wrong with oscam in 5.5.014.015.
I'm using oscam-latest with an old white Sky card to watch 4Music and London Live.
When the Zgemma H7S starts up oscam is running but not working. (cornfirmed by a ps -AFH from bash shell)
I have to go to Softcam Manager and to a restart and only then does oscam start working after 15-20 seconds.

I've just tried with oscam-latest and an oscam I built with simplebuild and it runs fine for me on a ZGemma H7

It actually decrypts 4Music and London Live after rebooting the H7 without you manually restarting oscam?

Perhaps I'm not waiting long enough.
But since it's working 15-20 seconds after restarting oscam you'd think it'd work 15-20 seconds after booting the box and the box getting to where it works for FTA channels.

I boot the box, oscam starts about as soon as the GUI starts and immediately decodes London Live. I've tried with both versions of oscam. The card isn't in this box, it's in another on my home network.

The only thing I've changed on the H7 is to add symlinks for libcrypto and libssl as the version of oscam I built has dependencies for version 0.9.8 of both

That's a fairly major difference from mine. I have the card in my H7.

It's a difference in the reader setup but the cam is running on my setup. Instead of restarting the cam, have you tried just restarting the reader to see if that's where the problem is? Let me know if your problem persists and I'll try putting the card in the H7 and see if it decodes on box boot.

Brian, please check in "Remove plugins" under softcams and get a screen grab.

I have to try and sleep now, I have an early start tomorrow, probably won't be back here until Sunday evening.

I have now setup the card in the H7 box and can confirm the oscam-latest starts on boot and decodes London Live, so not a bug in this build

Thank you.

Would you be willing to share your oscam configuration files from /etc/tuxbox/config ?

Scratch that. I probably don't need it.

I think I've found a fix from the end of this thread: https://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?64091

Disabling startup from Softcam manager and instead starting oscam-latest from /etc/rcS.d/S68softcam.sh fixes it.

/etc/rcS.d/S68softcam.sh contains:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
/usr/softcams/oscam-latest -b &
: exit 0

There's a lot of specualtion in that thread about various similar problems.
FWIW my speculation is now that
a) it's not just mips boxes that can have this/these problems.
b) oscam not working after booting up is a subtle timing thing, delaying oscam startup somehow should be the only fix needed.
c) long ecm times and/or oscam failing after some time may be a separate issue or may be related to startup timing.

If you put the start-up script in rcS.d you've hastened (not delayed) the start-up, as they get run first at boot time.

How does softcam manager arrange for oscam to auto start?

It appears that oscam can't see any readers until I restart it!

This is incorrect.

Something even more bizarre is happening.

If oscam is started up at boot time then clicking on "OSCam Webinterace" in OpenWebif takes you to <ipaddress>:83 instead of <ipaddress>:8888 and somehow <ipaddress>:83 presents what looks exactly like an OSCam Webinterface but with no readers present!!

Once you restart oscam from the softcam manager OpenWebif will correctly send you to <ipaddress>:8888 when you click on "OSCam Webinterace"!!

If you manually go to <ipaddress>:8888 after booting you get a correct OSCam Webinterace with readers but, for me at least, oscam is not decrypting FTV channels.

Are you starting multiple instances of Oscam? I've seen similar when oscam is running and I manually start a different version
