[ViX_Misc] Subtitles Problem

On my Zgemma H9 Twin box i've always had problems with subtitles. I usually have to switch them off and on a few times to get them to work and often even that doesn't get them to show. If they're embeded into the file or external .srt I have difficulty with them either way.

well maybe the new change (see above) which will be in a later build, will fix issue. Try it and see and if you still have issues then you need to post a test file I can use.

Yes i’ll try the new build when its available. Thank you for taking the time to fix this I really appreciate your work and effort. 👍🏻

Hello,

now it works that way if the file (.mkv) has many embeded subtitles, it always starts with English subtitles. Is it possible to add a function (or a new parameter) to use selected subtitle language ?
Subtitle language is already defined here : "Automatic Language/Subtitle language selection 1"

Either way this is better than before, thank you.

Will have a look surprised it doesn,t do that - but maybe I exited before it does that… No, its the existing code, I know from debug it only goes thru there on first start…. Will have another look at it.

Hello @twol,

have you had any time to check this out ? Thank you !

Will make commit in next few days - if you have a movie I can test and your sub title settings probably would be a good test, otherwise will just commit and you can test

by the way is your issue with movies, recorded services or iptv?

Hello,

great, thank you ! The issue is with the movies (*.mkv). I think it is easier if I test the changes. Just let me know when available (for example here : VIX-Team-Image-Development-General).

Hello @twol,

tested 6.6.004.010 and embeded subtitles working like at my previous post describes (always English).

For example, is 'config.autolanguage.subtitle_autoselect1' used to select correct embeded subtitle ?

So,it selects in number priority with 1 being the highest, 9 if present lowest.. So if there is an English subtitle, track it will select that, as you have that as select1. if not it will select next highest found.

Hello @twol,

my 'Automatic Language' settings are like this:

Automatic_language.webp

Which setting I need to change that Finnish is selected automatically for embedded subtitles ?

Embeded_subtitles.webp

Finnish:

Embeded_subtitles_fi.webp

@twol,

more testing done. If I have selected ServiceApp as the player (exteplayer3), then the English embedded subtitle is always selected. When using original player, Finnish embedded subtitle is selected automatically. So it works with the original player.

I think in serviceapp that was not really implemented correctly. So it works with gstreamer but not with exteplayer3....

OK, good. I will look at serviceapp and will also now update servicehisilicon as per servicemp3 (not an issue for your boxes, but any hisilicon box needs the same fix

@Orlandox - I think the issue with serviceapp is that it allows you to autoturnon subtitles, but doesn't give you any preferred language selection.
