Hi. I have a Technomate TM7102 Triple Tuner, with an internal Hard Drive, connected to a motorised dish. It’s finally died on me today. Tuner 1 died about 18 months ago and Tuner 2 only works for 20 minutes. Ideally I would love to just replace the tuners but can’t find any and Technomate don’t have any as I know it’s now very old.

Can anyone suggest a suitable replace machine. I need to have 2 cam slots and for it to run CI secure cam. I have official viewing cards for Canal Digitaal Netherlands and BIS TV France. I want to be able to record my programs on an internal hard drive and be able to record one channel whilst watching another via loop through as I do now (I only have one cable from my dish). I was looking at a VU Duo 4K box but my card supplier said to stay away from Linux as they work one minute but not the next with official viewing cards and if I was to get a Linux machine he couldn’t support me. I can see Technomate are showing an 8000 machine, but I was told that they are very iffy quality wise?

Can anyone help in suggesting an alternate or if they know where I could get 2 replacement tuners?

Thanks.

Always like the very professional support from some of these suppliers!
Firstly are you physically able to switch the lnb to say a unicable lnb?

The Technomate TM-8000 HD is a Linux-based satellite receiver and probably so was your TM7103. What does your card supplier recommend - I'll bet is is likely to be linux based. It sounds like you card supplier doesn't want to provide support :(

I’m not sure. I’m no good with ladders! But I think I could get someone that could do it?

Ah, I don’t think my card supplier knew that. My 7102 isn’t Linux though. My card supplier won’t recommend anything. He is telling me what not to get but when I asked if he could sell me something or suggest something, he said possibly Technisat, but he didn’t think they did one that suited my needs

Quite likely that your PSU has failed and the capacitors need replacing.
The problem is getting the parts. When it was took apart there wasn’t anything bulging? I tried switching back to tuner 1 as it’s had about 18 months rest, but now there isn’t any signal from that at all. It manage to record for 90 minutes this morning with a portable fan constantly blowing on the side of the case.

If you are near N/E London, you are welcome to borrow/test a Gigablue UHD Quad 4K. It has 2 CI slots. I don't have 23.5 just. It also my be an idea asking what people use for the CI/CI+ modules you are using. There are different versions/models. Maybe phone the forum sponsor, they may be able to inform you if they have any receivers suitable.

I presume you have phoned TM and asked for their advice. They once told me how to repair a TM 5200

Thank you very much for the offer. Unfortunately I am the other end of the country. Technomate weren’t very helpful. I rang up to be told they had no spares and no one working there now had any knowledge of the tm7100. I also tried emailing them but I never got a reply. I haven’t tried the forum sponsor, I’ll give that a try.

I'd suggest taking a look at the AB-Com pulse 4k twin: https://www.world-of-satellite.co.u...-com-pulse-4k-rev-2-twin-satellite-2x-dvb-s2x

It's got 2x CI slots, you may need to install CI+ helper for your cams & cards to work, but I wouldn't guarantee they'll work, although they should be ok.
I’ve been looking at this box. Also someone suggested Cryptobox 750?

I’ve no experience of Linux. Only ever had technomate, humax all with their own software. I understand it comes with OpenATV. I’m just wondering how difficult this would be to set up on a motorized dish (non usals)

Whichever Enigma2 image you use, the tuner configuration is going to be the same. Just minor menu differences. There is a guide in the guide section for configuring motors without using USALS. It should also be in the ViX manual.

If the tuners are on a sub board and have electrolytic capacitors then replace theses and see what happens. I have saved many tuners/receivers by doing this.
Good luck
