Build my own Vix image

It seems that /run/media is used for external drive mounting in 26.04. Previously it was just /media.
Doesn't seemed to have got a mention in the Release Notes.

Now wondering how many of my scripts this is going to affect....
so google AI says......
In Ubuntu 26.04, automatic mounting of removable disks and USB drives has shifted to /run/media/$USER/. This change is enforced by updated udisks2 configurations to align with other Linux distributions and systemd standards, moving away from the older /media/$USER/ path.
Key Details regarding this change:
  • Behavior: When a drive is inserted, it is automatically mounted in /run/media/your-username/volume-label.
  • Cause: Canonical has updated default mount locations in udev to follow a more standard structure, often referred to as adhering to FHS (Filesystem Hierarchy Standard) trends.
  • Persistent Mounts: If you need specific drives to remain at /media/ (e.g., for existing scripts or Samba shares), you must define them in /etc/fstab.
  • Workaround for /media: If you require the old behavior, you can create a symlink: sudo ln -s /run/media/$USER /media/$USER.
Managing Mounts in 26.04:
  • GUI: Use the GNOME Disks tool to manage partition mounting or change mount options.
  • CLI: Use lsblk to find the device and /etc/fstab to configure permanent mount points.

Tried again with Ubuntu 26.04 and built with OE 6.0 but still failing.
Are there any alterations or exclusions that I need to make?
Add this to ~/ViX/build-enviroment/builds/openvix/developer/gb7252/conf/local.conf:
BBMASK += ".*/python3-cryptography-vectors.*"
Then run the build again.

I'm not sure if I've added it correctly but it hasn't made a difference. Still failing:unsure:

Whatever works. I do not usually edit something like openembedded where it will get wiped out...But whatever works.
If all else fails:
1. Unzip attached and copy the folder recipes-devtools meta-local.
2. Clean the stale work directory from his previous failed run:
rm -rf ~/ViX/build-enviroment/builds/openvix/developer/gb7252/tmp/work/cortexa15hf-neon-vfpv4-oe-linux-gnueabi/python3-cryptography-vectors
3. Remove the BBMASK line added to local.conf...it's no longer needed.
4. Rebuild.

No mater what, remove the BBMASK line added to local.conf because it's no longer needed.

I got a bit confused with this one as to what I needed to rename it to

I removed the BBMASK line that I added earlier and cleaned the stale work directory.
I'm not entirely sure I copied the unzipped folder to the right location.
I got this output:

Delete the meta-local entry as it is useless.
What is the output of this? (Run in any terminal on your computer)
grep -rn "BBMASK" ~/ViX/build-enviroment/builds/openvix/developer/gb7252/conf/

Where am I deleting meta-local from please?

The bash script just brought me back to the command prompt.
Do I have to open terminal in a particular folder?

This is a screenshot of build-enviroment/builds/openvix/developer/gb7252/conf/

Okay...The folders I sent that you installed in meta-local can be removed as they are not working. Anything that does not work needs to be removed. Or, You may leave the empty folders if you wish, just delete the file, named : python3-cryptography-vectors_%.bbappend

Then open a terminal and run this: grep -rn "BBMASK" ~/ViX/build-enviroment/builds/openvix/developer/gb7252/conf/

I expect that grep command to return nothing. If it does return something, post it.

What we had earlier probably works, but we did not clean tmp/work which made it fail again. If the above grep command returns nothing, then edit your local.conf file the same as last, which was:
TOPDIR = "/home/willo/ViX/build-enviroment/builds/openvix/developer/gb7252"
require /home/willo/ViX/build-enviroment/builds/openvix/developer/gb7252/conf/openvix.conf
BBMASK += ".*/python3-cryptography-vectors.*"

That edit failed before. This time do some cleaning. You may delete the tmp folder outright or in terminal, run:
rm -rf ~/ViX/build-enviroment/builds/openvix/developer/gb7252/tmp/work/cortexa15hf-neon-vfpv4-oe-linux-gnueabi/python3-cryptography-vectors

Then try to build. If the build fails then it is time for a pint.

Why would he ever need EXCLUDE_FROM_WORLD?

You are correct:
Two lines. No EXCLUDE_FROM_WORLD needed.
But if it didn't work, what does it matter?

Well it was interesting why you would even suggest it, which is why I asked.

Whatever you have done, revert it, and clean the recipe. e.g. "bitbake -c clean python3-cryptography-vectors"

Code:

I've just ordered a GigaBlue UHD Quad 4K Pro, what's the machine code to build an image for it, is it Gbquad4kpro

Should be I think all lower case: gbquad4kpro
Seen at the top of this file:
OE-6.0/build-enviroment/meta-oe-alliance/meta-brands/meta-gigablue/conf/machine/gb7252.conf

I've added another SSD to my mini-pc and mounted it in my home directory.
I can build an OEA-6.0 image without any issues now but tried again to build OEA-5.6 and it keeps failing.
I assume you can setup different build environments on the same machine? I've created separate directories for each one and the sources are independent.
I've attached the terminal output and the logfile of the error.
