Motorised dish problem

Hi all
Wonder if anyone can help. I've recently started having problems with my motorised dish where it no longer moves to another position i.e. from 19.2e to 13e.

I'm using a Vu+ Duo 4K. I've swapped the tuners and reinstalled Vix image, but that didn't help. The only thing that works is if I reboot the box. It'll move to the new position but then won't move after. I'm thinking I might need to replace the motor. The motor is still receiving power during this.

I'd appreciate any help or ideas.

Whats the make of the motor? how old? I have a dark motor and can have the same issue. I use 16e a lot and then 23e and then 13 and 19 and sometimes 1w and 30 w. It can refuse to move.

Say make and age and I'll say a bit more. I use openvix with duo4kse.

Hi mate.
Think it was a technomate. 16 years old. I general use the same satellites as you, but not 16e so much. Using the same box and image. Although, not the latest image (not a fan), but have installed the latest and still get the same result.

Could be the external power supply of you Duo failing... or the cable between the Duo and the motor... if not the motor.

I guess it's possible. I am able to use the buttons on the actual motor to move it east and west when the box won't move it, so I thought the power would be getting to it.

I don't know. The commands depend on voltage. Just moving the motor doesn't. But most likely the controller board in the motor is knackered.

Not been on here for a while.....wow thats old for a motor...ive never seen any more than 5 years out of mine....was just on the roof last night replacing a Dark motor with a technomate (thanks for the prompt service WOS) - i must confess i did sit there for about 10 mins wondering why the technomate didnt fit the mount on the dark motor....different mount!

The dark motor that came off was totally corroded....buttons stuck solid, fplugs corrorded and the motor jammed solid. Totally knacked. The uk weather is relentless.

You should cover the new fittings in grease. I have a darkmotor 10 years plus. and best of all almagating tape!!
