The only thing I did different was to press menu whilst on trash folder and hit permanently delete files instead of going into trash folder and press delete on each file.

Guys, i notice this issue and its bothering me. I cannot uninstall plugins/extensions/drivers that i dont need. I always get error about dependency. I dont need crappy mediaplayer, wifi drivers, picture player, mediascanner but i cannot delete them via GUI. Maybe using telnet and force remove command but i haven't tried this yet.

I hope you can do something about this.

A number of plugins is just needed, as their functionality is implemented in the image. And the presence of several items not directly needed by you doesn't harm the system at all, so just let them be.

VIX 2.2.1 EPG exit problem

I noted earlier in this thread that one of the guys was having a problem where when you exit from EPG view it zaps to channel 1. This is also happening to me and was wondering if this was fixed or there is a work around setting. I also noted that this was intermittent as circa mid evening it was exhibiting the problem but come about 10:30pm it reverts to the channel I was watching. The setting in the EPG menu to start on channel1 is set to "no" and I've just noticed when it has the problem, after entering EPG it will go to channnel 1 so only way to get back to previous channel is to manually zap it.

Any ideas cos the missus is giving me grief?

Is it possible to do a background scan say every week by using a script? Seems to be a lot of frequency changes recently. Would be nice to be enable a background scan once a week at 3am as an example

vix image has background scanning just make sure its enabled and it usually does it as and when it finds a new channel and shows up in newchannels in provider bouquet within box

Plus a few of mates want a fix on this as well so they are waiting on news of VIX 2.2.1 EPG situation. Plus we note that in EPG search the blue search history has disappeared ....that was a good feature!

After flashing with new image if you reload your saved sat's, channels and bouquets and you previously had a system startup service (channel) set then if you are watching that channel and view EPG it zaps back to channel1 when you exit EPG view. The solution is to simply unset that channel as your startup service or delete it from your bouquet and re-add it back in.

I do have exactly same issue, everytime when using EPG it jumps to the first service in Favorite list. It is very annoying
Where i could find "startup service"?
My box is allways on, never go sleep or deep sleep.

How do I easily back-up all of my favourites & motorised satellite positions?
I'm a bit unsure because I've never used the 'Backup system settings' option in the Software management before...

Can anyone help me out with this?

Are you similar with FTP? if so just pull your config files off via this method.

Channel list use dreamboxedit to pull them from the box, if you done know how to post up and will explain.

Also why not give VIX a go, all of this is automated in box.

as stanman said backup your files with a FTP program and DBE, not sure if you can back up settings with one image and reload them using another, as i have never tried.

I'm new to all this and a bit confused now, I thought VTI & VIX were the same? If they are different which Image would you recommend?

Hehe, asking that on a ViX forum the obvious answer is.............

But seriously: ViX is far more sophisticated. Best to compare them (and many others) and see for yourself which one suits you best. But take your time, otherwise you will get lost.

Oh, one more thing: not only the image is important, also the support you will be able to get. For that you're also on a good address here.

Hi mods,

I'm about to do a fresh re-install of 2.1 but before I do is there any news of a 2.3 release coming up?

Recently I began using flac files and merlinmusicplayer, however when seeking during a file the image freezes. I'm hoping afresh install will fix it. It never happened using mp3's.

Also, is it possible the next release will use the same remote mapping as 2.1?

Why are you installing 2.1 when ViX Team VU+ Duo Image v2.2.100 is the latest?

The sole reason is I don't like the remote mapping for bouquets, zapping etc. 2.1 was perfect.
